Least it's not quite as low as yours given that comment Tony.

Here's hoping for a great season and plenty of fighting for places. If we get that then i'll be a happy lad :)

"Never liked Q tyres. The team and riders have to work on getting a race setup, then have to mess about with the setting to get the best lap with Q tyres, then go back to race setup!. "

Current Q session should be replaced with 2 30 minute heat races. Grid position would be determined by time of and placement in your heat. This is way more exciting for the fans than watching the high speed parade laps we have been subject to since the introduction of the qualifying session...even if there are only 8 bikes on the track in each heat.

Bob

I think you mean rossi's superior handling and braking. Yamaha themselves will be the first to tell you that :)

Ease up on the journos....

Ok, one or two are normal blokes that just like motorbikes and can write a bit, but most of the journos who test GP are pukka racers.

You really think Ducati let any old bloke out on their bikes?

From a UK perspective we regularly see Nial McKenzie, Jamie Whitham and a host of other ex GP racers doing the track tests.

They'd be the first to admit they're not going to hang on to Stober/Rossi et al., but they're more than qualified to say which bike pulls hardest, feels most neutral/stable/natural etc.

(Not withstanding that the teams can alter geometry or mapping to make a bike 'feel' better at 90% but not be faster at 100%

Err, Myopia so how do you determine the grid positions for these two qualifying heats that you propose
1) Do they pick numbers out a hat
2) Current standing in the championship
3)Finishing position from the last race

How would 2 & 3 work as this is the first race of the season and some riders are new to the championship :?

They could also do a super pole like WSBK, that'll keep riders out of eachothers way
(and some riders from kicking out at others) during qualifying.

I never understood the reason why the friday and saturday morning practice times are not valid anymore, probably because they want to turn the saturday afternoon session into a 'shootout' or such but we have often seen last season that weather spoils it.

Whatever they do they still need free practise time for set up, nice idea though Myopia

Morgue why not build upon the superpole idea, have two, the back end of the field determined in the first superpole, then the top 50% have a second go for pole

Superpole is the biggest crap idea anybody ever thought of! all it takes is a rider to have a mechanical failure or make a mistake and he is down the field, with the level of the competion amongst the top 4 riders in moto gp this would be a disaster and completley unfair, grid positions should be determined as they are now not by a stupid 1 lap affair! :)

Dropping qualifying is dumbing down even further, you've got to show all your cards at the start or you could start at the back of the grid...you see enough of race tyre stuff in practice and the race, so everyone gains 2 tenths they'll still be in the same spots, make all the bikes automatic next.... the sports turning to total shy7e..The only thing keeping it alive is Rossi....

I just loved the pre-qualifier days where the last 15-20 minutes produced the series of hot laps which really told you who was the big chance, not this situation of the last 2 minutes allocating meaningless grid positions.

And Valentino must qualify as the worst qualifier in it's short history, sorry Mr Vermeulen but you don't even get that title.

Forgot to add, as any one who as even ridden a racing motorcycle will know they change their nature dramatically the harder they are pushed, unless you can ride it as fast as the top guys your opinions are meaningless.
