Statistically, Kawasaki has brighter future with Melandri than Hopper if they staying. ZXRR is not a bad bike when looking to Nakano, Jacques, De Puniet and West achievement in dry and wet race conditions.

What they need is a rider that able to combine all the above rider's elements into a single strong rider. Melandri may seem failed to tame the Ducati. But his resume on Japanese bike quite impressive.

Ace, I think it was Kawasaki that made the high offer to tempt Hopper away from Suzuki. They say they bought him for his ability to enter corners. History shows that Hopper was better than the bike. I can't see that him accepting the offer was a bad thing, was he supposed to say "No thanks, I want less" ?

Good news if Kawasaki stay in though.

It means it was a stupid deal by all parties. Hooligan is good, but not 5mil good.
Do you think they would have paid that much if they knew 14th was on the cards. In Kawasaki's eyes, they thought they bought themselves a top 5.

Him acepting, well thats a no brainer, Kawasaki should never offered it.

In the end I blaim Kawasaki for building a crap bike AND and buying a dud rider ta boot.

"History shows that Hopper was better than the bike".

Well said, it some up the situation nicley, Kawasaki is the bottom and Hooligan is one step up from that. Its most likley Hopper will never win a race, he will be forgoten quickly.....Not saying its right or wrong, just saying.

Where are the Kawasaki MotoGP team based? Why are they going all the way to Phillip Island to test. Is this a good use of money for a team that may not be racing this year?

Phillip Islands is the most flowing track in the MotoGP calender which is suitable to develop the bike and it's engine characteristics. The track has known given most accurate feedbacks to MotoGP riders to prepare the base setup for the whole season.

Don't beat about the bush Ace, say what you mean. :)

You are probably right in the things you say, but just remember you are no mug to finish 4th in the championship in a strong field on a slow bike. Also He damaged himself sevsral times trying to earn his money on the Kwak.

Having said that , if he stays in and doesn't finish high up this year he is gone!!
I nearly forgot he always ends a season higher than his team mates too.

Anyone that can't see Hopper is a brilliant rider has no clue, he's better than Melandri IMO. Hopper is no stranger to uncompetitive machinery, but he always tries his **** off and brings home some surprising results occasionally. Compare that to Melandri last year.. I'll be very disappointed if Hopper doesn't get a ride on a Kwak if its on track in 09.
