Uncertainty at Gresini means Scott Redding is yet to confirm his 2015 MotoGP plans.
Redding has a two-year contract with the Italian team
, the second season of which should see him move from the underpowered Open class Honda to one of the title-winning RC213Vs.
However Gresini appears to be facing funding issues regarding next year's Factory Honda and are also rumoured to be in talks with Aprilia about becoming its official team.

asked Scott for the latest on 2015:
“I know that Honda want to have me for two years, which is a good thing. And they want me on a Factory bike. So it's just a matter of where and what pieces we have,” he replied.
“We need to see because I know Gresini is struggling at the moment and they are speaking about other manufacturers so I'm a bit unsure what is going on. We need to see what happens over the next few races.”
The Englishman added: “I have a two-year contract with Gresini, so in theory I need to stay with Gresini. It's difficult when they are thinking of going to another manufacturer because the Factory [Honda] bike is so expensive and I'm not going to stay on an Open bike.
“I've said to [Fausto Gresini] that I'm not doing one more year in the Open class. I'd rather stay at home than do another year of Open. We need to see what he can bring up.”
Performance wise, the 21-year-old rookie has certainly fulfilled his side of the deal.
Redding is the top Production Honda rider in the world championship - in twelfth, but just one place behind Gresini's present Factory class rider Alvaro Bautista. Redding has also been the leading RCV1000R at six of the eleven rounds.
“I think Honda are happy with my season so far,” Redding added. “They were really impressed with Indy and Sachsenring. Sachsenring was mixed weather conditions, so it was good for us. Then at Indianapolis [where Redding won the Open class] they said, 'You've done something with this bike no-one has done before'.
“I'm always trying to be there. I'm starting to feel more comfortable on the bike, starting to know what it is going to do which is also helping. When I do well Livio Suppo and Nakamoto will come in and say 'well done'. So I know they are watching me. It's good to know.”
HRC vice president Shuhei Nakamoto recently revealed that next year's Open Honda will be powered by this year's Factory class engine. Has that not made Redding a little tempted to consider another year on the RCV1000R if the Factory bike proves out of Gresini's price range?
“But they also said this year's Open bike was going to be 0.3 sec slower [than the Factory bike],” Redding replied. “The thing is I want to be in 'MotoGP'. Not Open class. Or Ducati Open class. I want to be in MotoGP on a bike that can win races and fight for the podium.
“I'm not going to mess around for a few years. One year [on an Open bike] I can deal with. Two years - it is not happening.”
At some circuits Redding's Production Honda, which does not have pneumatic-valve technology, has been over 20km/h slower than the quickest machine.
“I would love to have more horsepower to at least mix it with the Factory guys. Then I would feel more satisfied,” Redding added.
“For the first three laps you're with them because we've got the soft tyre, but then you just see them going and going. There is nothing you can do. No matter how hard you ride you cannot stay with them. That's just how it is and you have to accept it, which is the hardest part.”
Redding won last year's British Moto2 Grand Prix on the way to finishing title runner-up.
