14:09
UK Time
Also, that was Honda's 100th four stroke win in MotoGP since the series switched from 500s in 2002. Another record to add to Marquez's list.

Marquez's 7th consecutive win gives him the maximum of 175 points. Rossi sits on 117, 58 behind, and five ahead of Pedrosa on 112. Lorenzo's 13 points for 4th consolidate 4th overall, 34 points behind Pedrosa, 7 ahead of Dovizioso.

UK Time
Another super finish by Scott Redding. The 1st production Honda racer and just 5 seconds behind Hernandez's Ducati. He must have been cursing that long front straight throughout though.
13:59
UK Time
It's worth noting Nicky Hayden ended the race in a super 13th place. Considering he didn't know if he could complete the weekend on Friday that's a great ride.
13:58
UK Time
You can't argue with the 9-time champ. That was stunning, I've just about got my breath back.
13:57
UK Time
Rossi: "I'm very happy because we did an exciting fight. In the warm up I was stronger. I think it's the best race for me this year. I have a good pace, I stay in front. It's a shame I think at one point I can win but at the end the Hondas were a little stronger. I'm not happy 100 percent but it was a great race."
13:56
UK Time
Pedrosa: "Actually I don't care about the points. My performance was good, I was surprised with Rossi's pace. He was pulling, then towards at the end something strange happened. I saw some bikes close to the track, I think I overtake under yellow flags. Finally I attacked, Marc closed the door, almost hit me 2/3 times. I touch him and lost the position but I'm pleased with the performance."
13:54
UK Time
Marquez interviewed in pit lane: "It was so nice, especially in the last laps. I tried in the beginning but I made a big mistake. It was too much risk but I come back strong. On the last lap we have a great fight so I'm really happy with this victory!"
13:52
UK Time
The top 10 at the end of a stunning 25 laps: Marquez, Rossi, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Bradl, A.Espargaro, P.Espargaro, Dovizioso, Iannone, Smith.
13:51
UK Time
We're seeing that Pedrosa and Marquez passed Rossi under a yellow flag with a few laps to play. Both riders recognised the mistake immediately and put their hands up to let Rossi back through.
13:49
UK Time
Lorenzo is looking at his front brake lever in pit lane...was there a problem there? Marquez celebrates by kicking a football into his adoring fans.
13:47
UK Time
Lorenzo got 4th in the end, 5 seconds behind the winner and Bradl held off Aleix Espargaro for a promising 5th.
13:47
UK Time
Another brilliant MotoGP race. You really couldn't choose a winner until 2 corners from the end.
13:46
UK Time
Pedrosa was so close to taking both the Repsol Hondas down! Marquez was squaring the corner off, Pedrosa tried to dive inside but there wasn't enough space. He picked up, grazed Marquez's rear tyre with his front and just ran on.
13:45
UK Time
…and Marquez takes his 7th win of 2014 with another astonishing win! Pedrosa nearly ran into the back of him at T12, had to pick up and ran off the track. Rossi got through to finish 2nd. Pedrosa didn't deserve that!
13:44
UK Time
Marquez holds it though T10, Pedrosa hits his wheel...
13:43
UK Time
They swap positions through T4, Marquez leads again!
13:43
UK Time
Dani goes through at T1! Marquez puts it back over through T3 though...
13:42
UK Time
Marquez is so wide through T10 but he holds on. Last lap time, it's going to be one of the Repsol Hondas to win!
13:41
UK Time
The calm before the storm? 2 to go, Lorenzo is out of this. 0.5s covers the front 3!
13:40
UK Time
3 to go - Pedrosa is so strong through turns 1-4, he's on the back of his team-mate and really looks in the mood.
13:39
UK Time
Pedrosa is rising to the challenge here. He closes on his team-mate through the infield. Rossi is having a breather in 3rd. This is anyone's race.
13:38
UK Time
Lorenzo is wide through T10, that could be his chance of a victory over. Pedrosa dives under Rossi with a last-gasp move into T1! Just 4 laps to go!
13:37
UK Time
Rossi briefly leads through T4 but he runs wide. The commentators say 'he who dares will win this one.' I wouldn't argue.
13:36
UK Time
Marquez is wide at T10 but Rossi doesn't capitalise.
13:35
UK Time
Marquez is through again at T1, he ducks under Rossi mid corner. Will he risk it all to try and pull out a cushion with such inclement weather?
13:34
UK Time
But they don't pit! With only 6 laps left it might not be worth the risk.
13:33
UK Time
Surely they'll pit at the end of this lap...
13:33
UK Time
Here comes Marquez -  he takes the lead into T1 but the riders have their hands up! It's raining! Marquez and Pedrosa wave Rossi through! Lorenzo is on them too!
13:31
UK Time
The top 4 are closing up! Marquez is on Rossi's rear wheel, Pedrosa and Lorenzo are honing in too. Lorenzo is just 1.3s back of the leader.
13:30
UK Time
Lorenzo's team have moved his spare bike right out to pit lane - they must think rain is closer.
13:30
UK Time
Aleix Espargaro is catching Bradl in 5th while brother Pol is fending off Dovizioso's Ducati in 7th.
13:29
UK Time
We start lap 17. Marquez reduces the lead to half a second.
13:28
UK Time
We have lightening over the paddock! Surely heavy rainfall is forthcoming. The riders in the leading group will have a tough call to make very soon.
13:27
UK Time
We're seeing an impressive ride from Scott Redding in 12th. He's ahead of Hayden, Aoyama and Pirro.
13:27
UK Time
That drama with Marquez has given Rossi a 0.8s advantage. How long will that last with Marquez in this kind of mood?
13:26
UK Time
Marquez immediately takes 2nd back from Pedrosa with another tough move at turn 5. He's looking a little out of control today - more so than usual - with the bike moving all over the place. I was convinced he was going to be sliding on his bike twice on that lap alone.
13:24
UK Time
Marquez runs on at T1! He was so close to tagging the back of Rossi! He picked his bike up, ran on and let Pedrosa through!
13:23
UK Time
There is now 1.1s between Pedrosa in 3rd and Lorenzo in 4th.
13:22
UK Time
Pedrosa runs in hot to T1 and loses ground on the front 2. Marquez has eradicated Rossi's half second advantage in the blinking of an eye. He's ready to make a move.
13:21
UK Time
12 laps gone - 13 to go. Rossi still leads from Marquez and Pedrosa. Lorenzo is losing touch with Bradl comfortably ahead of Aleix and Pol Espargaro.
13:20
UK Time
Crutchlow is coming down pit lane. He's retiring out of this race.
13:19
UK Time
Lorenzo is in danger of losing touch with the front. There are now 1.5s between him and Rossi and that gap is going up.
13:19
UK Time
Crutchlow is having a bad day. He slips to 13th, behind Smith and Redding.
13:18
UK Time
All this has given Rossi a bit of breathing space at the front. He has 0.5s in hand. Pedrosa could really do him a favour here.
13:17
UK Time
And, again, as he did with Lorenzo, Marquez moves through to 2nd again…into T10 with an extremely aggressive move. That'll fire Pedrosa up no end!
13:16
UK Time
Pedrosa stalks Marquez's rear wheel and goes past at T5! He had a look into T4, Marquez braked late into T5 and ran wide. Pedrosa was straight through.
13:15
UK Time
Bradl lost a little ground at T10, running a little wide. Lorenzo loses a few tenths on the front 3 but if the rain does arrive it'll throw these standings up in the air.
13:14
UK Time
There are spots of rain falling in pit lane. Teams are taking tyre warmers off the second bikes - bike swaps may be imminent!
13:12
UK Time
Lorenzo is in trouble, Pedrosa goes 3rd with a neat move at T1. Bradl is hanging with the front 4 too.
13:11
UK Time
Marquez didn't like that one bit & immediately returns the favour, going back to 2nd at T5.
13:11
UK Time
Here comes Lorenzo! That's a fantastic move to snatch 2nd from Marquez into T1, having benefited from a double slipstream down the front straight.
13:10
UK Time
Aleix Espargaro is running a very strong 6th while Smith had a rotten start, he's circulating behind Crutchlow in 11th and just ahead of Redding in 13th.
13:09
UK Time
It's reported that Bautista has retired. A miserable home GP for the Spaniard.
13:08
UK Time
Marquez demotes Lorenzo to 3rd at T10 with an incredibly risky manoeuvre. Both wheels were out of line, it looked out of control, but he pulled it back and made the corner. Only Marc Marquez can make moves like that.
13:07
UK Time
The front 3 are completely together. Another aggressive start from Rossi and he leads into T4! And Lorenzo takes it back immediately only to be outdone into T5! Incredible racing.
13:06
UK Time
A 2009 repeat anyone? Rossi is all over Lorenzo's rear Bridgestone through turns 1-5. A change of the lead could be imminent.
13:05
UK Time
Abraham loses the front into T10. He attempts to pull his bike out of the gravel but it's a futile gesture. His race is over.
13:05
UK Time
Lorenzo's move around the outside of Pedrosa into T1 was demonic. A brilliant start. Bradl is holding his own with the 2 Repsol Hondas in 5th. The front 5 are gapping Dovizioso & the Espargaro brothers behind.
13:04
UK Time
Marquez goes past Pedrosa at T1. He doesn't want the factory Yamahas getting away, while bikes in pit lane are being fitted with wet tyres.
13:02
UK Time
Bradl is 5th, Dovizioso 6th and Pol Espargaro 7th.
13:02
UK Time
Rossi goes 2nd at T4 - 2 factory Yamahas lead this race. Marquez is behind his team-mate in 4th.
13:02
UK Time
The lights go out, Pedrosa gets a flyer! Lorenzo goes around the outside, Rossi's through to 3rd!
13:00
UK Time
Sources around the track confirm there are spots of rain falling in the area. The wind has also picked up. Dark clouds are descending on the circuit - we could see some pit stops today.
12:59
UK Time
Warm up lap has started. Here's the grid: Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Marquez, Bradl, Rossi, A.Espargaro, Dovizioso, Smith, Hernandez, P.Espargaro, Iannone, Bautista.
12:59
UK Time
All of the Open class riders chose the soft Bridgestone rear tyres except the Forward Yamahas of Espargaro and Edwards.
12:58
UK Time
Looking at the Bridgestone tyre sheet Stefan Bradl is the only rider to choose the hard front tyre. All factory machines are on the medium rear except Pirro and Hernandez who chose the softer option.
12:57
UK Time
Dani Pedrosa topped morning warm up this morning ahead of Marquez and Lorenzo. The question is whether Pedrosa's arm pump issue will raise its head again as it has done in the previous 3 races.
12:55
UK Time
Yonny Hernandez is in ninth place on the grid, which is his best ever qualifying result in the MotoGP class.
12:55
UK Time
Dovizioso qualified 7th ahead of Bradley Smith. Smith got his joint best result of 2013 here last year and could be on course for another good result today. The Englishman has looked strong around Montmelo.
12:53
UK Time
Aleix Espargaro is in sixth place on the grid, the fourth time this year he has started from the second row. This is also the scene of Espargaro's only podium in GP racing. He only lives 5 minutes down the road too.
12:52
UK Time
Rossi has scored points at the last nineteen races, a sequence that started with fourth place in Catalunya last year.
12:52
UK Time
In fifth place on the grid is Valentino Rossi, who has had six victories in the premier-class at the Catalan GP, the last of which was in 2009. It took a late lap to promote Rossi from 10th and the Italian expressed concerns over his race pace yesterday evening.
12:51
UK Time
Stefan Bradl has looked strong throughout the weekend and starts from the outside of the 2nd row in 4th.
12:51
UK Time
Marquez is aiming to become just the second rider, after Valentino Rossi, to win seven successive MotoGP races since the category was introduced in 2002 as the premier-class of grand prix racing.
12:50
UK Time
Marc Marquez placed 3rd after Saturday's Q2 session. A crash on his final flying lap prevented him from challenging for his 7th consecutive pole of 2014.
12:49
UK Time
After such a strong ride at Mugello he'll be looking to continue his improved form in 2014.
12:49
UK Time
Jorge Lorenzo 'risked a lot' to qualify 2nd. It's his 4th front row start of 2014. Lorenzo has an impressive record around Montmelo too, winning 3 times and finishing 2nd twice in the past 5 years.
12:48
UK Time
Pedrosa will be aiming to win at home in Catalunya for the first time since 2008.
12:48
UK Time
Yesterday Dani Pedrosa took his 1st pole position since the GP in Barcelona last year. Pedrosa has not won from pole position since the final race of 2012 in Valencia and if he wins the race it will be the first time that a Honda rider has won in the MotoGP class from pole at the Catalunya circuit.
12:46
UK Time
Ducati's Davide Tardozzi confirms Ducati's spare bikes are running steel brakes in the case of rain. The top teams are prepared for any rain that comes during the 25 lap race.
12:45
UK Time
The sky has clouded over, it's certainly grey here in Catalunya. Rain is forecasted for 3-4pm local time which means MotoGP might avoid it.
12:44
UK Time
Now onto the big race. MotoGP will start in just over 15 minutes.
12:21
UK Time
Back in 15 minutes for MotoGP!
12:21
UK Time
Rabat's win takes him to 149 points in the championship. Kallio is 34 points behind on 115. Vinales (89) climbs to 3rd 26 points back of Kallio and 18 ahead of Aegerter (71).
12:18
UK Time
You can see the results in full here: http://www.crash.net/motogp/results/205654/1/catalunya-moto2-race-results.html
12:14
UK Time
You'll struggle to find a bigger smile all day. Rabat says, "I try to push from the beginning but Vinales was so strong. We had a good fight but after I can go. I enjoy a lot the race at home."
12:13
UK Time
A good ride from Axel Pons there, his best in Grand Prix racing. His previous best was 9th in the 2012 Japanese Moto2 race.
12:11
UK Time
Here's Vinales: "Incredible to race at home. We make a good first part of the race but Tito was too strong. At the end he was stronger and I just tried to stay in the position."
12:10
UK Time
Zarco in parc ferme: "It's so good. The target was to catch the top group but I couldn't do it. But I could be constant and in the last lap Luthi went a little wide. I could overtake and gas until the end. We hope we have many more podiums this season."
12:09
UK Time
The top 10 after 23 laps of racing: Rabat, Vinales, Zarco, Kallio, Luthi, Pasini, Cardus, Pons, Schrotter, West.
12:08
UK Time
Amazingly Nakagami gets only his 3rd point scoring ride of 2014 with 13th place.
12:07
UK Time
There was a super 5 rider battle for 8th. Pons got the verdict in the end from Schrotter, West, Baldassarri and Simon. All 5 were covered by just over 0.5s at the flag.
12:06
UK Time
If ever a team needed a podium finish it was the Caterham Moto2 team, their 1st podium in the class. Josh Herrin scores his best Moto2 finish with 16th.
12:04
UK Time
And what a ride from Zarco. Luthi went under Kallio at T10, pushed them both wide and Zarco didn't need an invitation to barge past both of them. Kallio was just behind in 4th and Luthi, shaking his head, 5th.
12:03
UK Time
Rabat wins his home GP in Barcelona for his most dominant win of the season! Vinales claims a fine 2nd, his 1st podium since the 2nd round in Texas.
12:03
UK Time
Kallio is 3rd but this isn't over...
12:02
UK Time
Last lap and Kallio and Zarco are closing hand over fist on Luthi. A move from Zarco is imminent I feel.
12:01
UK Time
2 to go and Kallio and Luthi are closing in on Luthi in 3rd. The gap is down to 1.5 seconds but they might just run out of time.
12:00
UK Time
De Angelis has also hit the deck. With so many crashes we now have Ant West in 8th, Axel Pons 9th and Baldassarri 10th.
11:59
UK Time
3 laps to go and the top 10 is fairly spread out: Rabat, then Vinales 4.6s behind. Luthi is a further 6 back of that.
11:57
UK Time
That incident must have broken something on Aegerter's bike. He is slipping further down the order to 16th.
11:57
UK Time
Xavier Simeon has also crashed out of 11th at T10 and Nagashima follows him into the gravel. That corner has claimed so many riders today.
11:55
UK Time
That incident at T10 leaves Luthi in a clear 3rd. Kallio is 2 seconds behind and has Zarco all over his rear wheel. Aegerter, meanwhile, has rejoined in 9th.
11:54
UK Time
Rabat is dominating this race. His lead is nearly 4 seconds.
11:53
UK Time
I spoke too soon! Torres loses the front into T10, Luthi had run wide and the #81 was trying to take a tighter line. His bike then flipped up and hit the front of Aegerter's Suter, pushing the Swiss runner out and into the gravel. Incredible that Aegerter managed to save that.
11:52
UK Time
And Torres goes 4th! He slides neatly under Aegerter into T1. We could have a Spanish 1-2-3 in a minute and Luthi will be looking over his shoulder.
11:50
UK Time
Torres closes on Aegerter's rear Dunlop tyre. We have a 3 way battle for 3rd.
11:50
UK Time
We're seeing an improved performance from Josh Herrin today too. It was imperative for the AMA champion to finish today's race and he's circulating inside the top 20 in 19th.
11:49
UK Time
Torres can smell a home podium here. Remember, he claimed one at the end of 2013 at Valencia and he's within 0.6s of Luthi in 3rd.
11:48
UK Time
Torres passes Kallio into T1 on lap 15. Finally some light for Aspar's Moto2 team who have endured a rotten season so far. To emphasise how well Torres is riding his team-mate Nico Terol is 24th.
11:46
UK Time
Considering how qualifying went it's good to see the Suters of Luthi, Aegerter, Torres and Zarco running strongly in the top 10. Zarco is also reeling Kallio and Torres in.
11:45
UK Time
The gap at the front is up to 1.4 seconds. Rabat has this all under control.
11:44
UK Time
We're hearing that Luis Salom has lost the fingernail from one finger and is being attended to in the medical centre. Thankfully his injuries are minimal.
11:43
UK Time
Kallio is losing a lot of time. Aegeter has gone through and Jordi Torres, having qualified 16th, is closing in on 5th.
11:42
UK Time
Rabat is putting the hammer down and ekes out another fews tenths on Vinales. The gap stands at 0.8s.
11:40
UK Time
The top 10 after 10 laps: Rabat, Vinales, Luthi, Kallio, Aegerter, Torres, Zarco, Pasini, de Angelis, Cardus.
11:39
UK Time
The gap between the front 2 has hovered around 0.4/0.5secs all race. The question is whether Vinales can maintain this pace as the laps progress.
11:38
UK Time
The gap back to 3rd is now 3 seconds. Luthi drafts past Kallio and out-brakes the Finn into turn 1.
11:38
UK Time
Vinales is making a fine job of this. The front 2 are heads and shoulders above the rest of the field today. Kallio is slipping back into the clutches of Luthi and Aegerter.
11:35
UK Time
Pasini starts to drop back through the top 10, Torres passes the Italian to go 6th.
11:35
UK Time
Luthi passes Aegerter to go 4th and has Kallio in his sights. The Swiss rider took his 1st GP podium here back in 2003 and he can smell another one here today.
11:34
UK Time
Rabat now has a half second advantage with Kallio a further 6 tenths back in 3rd. The front 3 are spreading out.
11:32
UK Time
No matter what happens here today Vinales has to be applauded as he closes back on Rabat. Such an aggressive start from the reigning Moto3 world champion.
11:31
UK Time
Rabat is making a break. He puts 0.4s into Vinales in that last lap alone.
11:30
UK Time
Rabat goes back to the front at the start of lap 5, out-braking Vinales into the downhill T1. Kallio, Aegerter and Luthi aren't far away with Luthi lapping at the same pace as the leader.
11:29
UK Time
Ricky Cardus has taken advantage of the mayhem to go 9th after qualifying 20th.
11:28
UK Time
What a crazy opening 3 laps with so many fallers. Back at the front and Rabat isn't having this all his own way.
11:28
UK Time
Meanwhile back at the front and Vinales takes the lead from Rabat at T1. Kallio, Aegerter, Luthi and Pasini are giving chase.
11:27
UK Time
Cortese has gone too! And now Salom falls at the 1st corner at the start of lap 3 and he takes Folger with him! Salom got on the power too soon exiting the first corner, high sided and was very lucky not to get collected by the chasing pack. Folger wasn't so lucky.
11:25
UK Time
And Sam Lowes has gone down! In a separate incident the Englishman goes out on the 1st lap from 13th place.
11:24
UK Time
Corsi, Mobidelli and Krummenacher were all caught up in the 1st corner melee. The Italian and Swiss are back in the race though.
11:23
UK Time
Kallio and Vinales know they can't let Rabat get away! They both pull aggressive moves on the championship leader in the first 1/2 of the opening lap.
11:22
UK Time
Cortese ran off track at the 1st turn, as did 2 other riders who went down. We'll ID them when we can.
11:22
UK Time
We're off and Kallio gets the jump but Rabat rides around the outside at T1.
11:21
UK Time
Taka Nakagami starting 25th? Oh dear.
11:21
UK Time
As the warm up lap starts here's the grid: Rabat, Kallio, Vinales - Cortese, Folger, Pasini - Luthi, Zarco, Lowes - Aegerter, Salom, Morbidelli - de Angelis, Syahrin, Corsi
11:19
UK Time
Watch out for Simone Corsi starting from 15th. The Italian started from 22nd at Mugello and finished 4th so keep an eye on the Italian, scything through the field.
11:17
UK Time
With Kalex riders taking the first six places on the grid, the highest place Suter rider is Thomas Luthi at the head of the third row. Luthi has been on the podium three times in the last four years in the Moto2 class in Catalunya.
11:17
UK Time
Sam Lowes had another Saturday afternoon, placing 9th overall.
11:16
UK Time
Sandro Cortese, Jonas Folger and Mattia Pasini make up the 2nd row from 4th to 6th. Pasini's performance yesterday equals his best in the Moto2 class.
11:15
UK Time
Maverick Vinales qualified third, his first front row start in the Moto2 class.
11:14
UK Time
Mika Kallio starts from 2nd. His only podium finish at the Catalunya circuit was back in 2005 in the 125cc class when he finished third.
11:14
UK Time
Rabat has been dominant all weekend around his home circuit. His pole position advantage of 0.5secs spells out just how superior he has been.
11:13
UK Time
Onto Moto2 then. Tito Rabat starts from pole for the fifth time this year. This is the seventh pole of his Moto2 career and from his previous six pole position starts he has taken five wins and a second place.
11:12
UK Time
And we're back. Use this as a reference to get an idea of what Niklas Ajo went through on the last lap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-S_2asLpoM
11:02
UK Time
Time for a quick cup of tea / glass of iced water (depending on where you are in the world). Back in 5 minutes to build up Moto2.
11:01
UK Time
A quick mention for Brad Binder. 6th place today represents his best finish since Jerez, 2013.
11:00
UK Time
It's worth noting that 1 of the 1st people to congratulate Marquez in pit lane, aside from his older brother, was Nakamoto-san. It's fair to say Honda has invested a lot in this class in Moto3, now they're reaping the rewards.
10:59
UK Time
You can see the full results from another great Moto3 encounter here: http://www.crash.net/motogp/results/205650/1/catalunya-moto3-race-results.html
10:58
UK Time
Danny Kent ended the 22 laps in 17th.
10:58
UK Time
Another solid performance by McPhee. 9th place ahead of a tight battle between Bagnaia and Masbou.
10:57
UK Time
Ajo was just interviewed in pit lane. He said he dislocated his elbow during that moment on the last lap. Incredible that he managed to bring it home after that.
10:56
UK Time
Here's Marquez: "Incredible. It's my home GP. I try to do my best every lap, every corner. I try to make 1 gap from the other group, I'm very happy. Thanks to all the fans!"
10:54
UK Time
To give you an idea of how close Ajo was to crashing on the last lap think Randy Mamola at Misano all those years ago. Both legs were hanging off the left side of his bike but he held on. That was a stunning save.
10:52
UK Time
Bastianini: "This race is fantastic. The last lap was difficult for me but Ajo do an error and I pass him. I'm happy, this is my 1st podium!"
10:51
UK Time
3rd place Vazquez: "This is important, we needed a good result. Finally it was hard with the tyre. In practice I had some problems with electronics. I tried to push on the last lap, was clever and have 16 points for the championship."
10:50
UK Time
To give you an idea of how close #Moto3 has been in the past 2 years: Marquez's 3.3s winning margin biggest in class since Brno, 2012.
10:49
UK Time
Another great Moto3 last lap. Here's how they finished: Marquez, Bastianini, Vazquez, Miller, Fenati, Binder, Vinales, Ajo, McPhee, Bagnaia.
10:46
UK Time
That's Honda's 1st win in the Moto3 class since Mugello 2012.
10:45
UK Time
Ajo was holding 2nd, then nearly high sided through T7. He had both feet off the pegs, both legs dangling off his bike, and somehow managed to stay upright. He eventually came home in 8th.
10:44
UK Time
Miller made a stunning recovery on that final lap - he really got stuck in - and he salvaged 4th place, just behind Vazquez. There was so much action between T5 and T10. We're seeing replays now.
10:43
UK Time
Marquez wins his 1st GP of 2014 and Enea Bastianini takes a brilliant 2nd place!
10:43
UK Time
Bastianini takes Vazquez into 10 to go 2nd...
10:42
UK Time
Fenati messes up his lap, trying to go under Bastianini into T5. Miller gets past him to go 7th.
10:42
UK Time
Ajo goes 2nd into T1! Vinales follows with Fenati 4th...
10:41
UK Time
We start the last lap. Marquez has this won. But Vazquez, Fenati, Bastianini, Vinales, Ajo and Binder could get 2nd. They're all together!
10:41
UK Time
You have to say Bastianini is really impressing again today. He's showing Mugello was no fluke, he's 4th and could claim his 1st podium here.
10:40
UK Time
But Fenati recovers immediately down the front straight and is 3rd by the time they reach T4. This is going to be tight.
10:39
UK Time
Ajo is in the mood today. He makes a brave move around the outside of Fenati at T12. Fenati is back to 6th with 2 to go.
10:38
UK Time
Bastianini goes 2nd at T4, Vazquez follows too. Fenati is shuffled back to 4th.
10:38
UK Time
Vazquez makes a mistake off shot, he goes from 2nd to 5th in half a lap. Keep your eye on Vinales too, he's pulled himself back into contention for this battle - and he's bringing Miller with him.
10:36
UK Time
4 laps to go: We have a 5 way fight for 2nd, Vinales and Miller are out of it. Vazquez holds the position at the moment with Fenati stalking his rear wheel.
10:35
UK Time
Guevara loses the front into Caixa corner. He was on the back of the battle for 11th and fighting for the lower points positions. He's hauls his Kalex KTM upright and gets going again.
10:33
UK Time
Miller, by his own high standards, is looking very subdued. He hasn't been his usual aggressive self today and hasn't really impacted on the battle for 2nd. He's losing ground on Binder in 6th and is in danger of losing 7th to Vinales.
10:32
UK Time
Bastianini goes 3rd, out-braking Vazquez into T1. Ajo could be next up to pass the #7.
10:31
UK Time
Isaac Vinales makes a mistake off camera. He was lying 5th on the last lap but he's slid back to 8th and is circulating off the back of Miller.
10:31
UK Time
It's as you were at the front with 7 laps to go. Fenati holds of Vazquez with Bastianini, Ajo, Binder, Miller and Vinales a short way back.
10:30
UK Time
Jordi Arquer, team manager of the Estrella Galicia squad, confirms Rins went out with a broken gear linkage. What rotten luck for the 18-year old.
10:29
UK Time
Finally Fenati gets onto the front straight with a small advantage over Vazquez. He holds the Honda off into T1. Can he pull clear through the infield and work on Marquez's lead? 9 to go.
10:28
UK Time
Binder is making some interesting shapes with his Mahindra in 6th. He bravely disposes with Ajo at T1 and has an enthusiastic Bastianini and Vinales ahead.
10:26
UK Time
Marquez is trying hard. He climbs the high kerbs between the penultimate T13 and the final corner, getting his Honda out of shape. He doesn't lose much time though as Vazquez and Fenati continue to tussle 3.3secs behind.
10:24
UK Time
There's a handy battle for 11th too. Oliveira heads that at the moment from Kornfeil, Masbou, Tonucci, Hanika and Kent.
10:23
UK Time
The fight for 2nd now contains 7 riders, it's frantic as ever into T1, as McPhee and Bagnaia lose ground in 9th and 10th.
10:22
UK Time
It's slightly disappointing to see Miguel Oliveira in 13th. He looked strong in qualifying and with Binder's Mahindra circulating in this battle for 2nd you would expect the Portuguese to be higher up the order. He got his 1st GP podium here too.
10:20
UK Time
Fenati has his braking markers fixed perfectly. He elegantly sweeps around the outside of Vazquez and Bastianini at T1 to go 2nd. With 3.3secs now separating 1st and 2nd is it possible to reel Marquez in?
10:18
UK Time
Miller is starting to make stealthy progress. He picks off Ajo at T1 while Vinales slides back to 7th. The Australian has Fenati in his sights.
10:18
UK Time
Bastianini crosses the line 2nd but Vazquez's Honda is so fast down the front straight. The Basque rider now gives chase to the younger Marquez.
10:16
UK Time
We start lap 7 and Marquez's lead is up to 2.2secs and no wonder. We see replays of Fenati touching Vazquez's back wheel at T4. Both riders sat up and somehow managed to stay upright. Marquez must be thinking his birthdays and Christmases have come all at once.
10:14
UK Time
Vinales, Vazquez and Fenati swap positions on lap 6. This is falling into the hands of Marquez, his lead is up to 1.9secs.
10:12
UK Time
Danny Kent rises to 15th while John McPhee sets the fastest lap of the race on lap 5.
10:11
UK Time
Fenati is up to 2nd. Marquez still holds a 1sec advantage but there is a chasing pack of 9 riders after him, all the way back to Bagnaia in 10th.
10:10
UK Time
Rins is out! The Spaniards gear lever looks to have broken loose while the #42 was sitting in 2nd. That's disastrous for Rins, 3rd in the series, who made such a brave effort to race today.
10:08
UK Time
What a start from Fenati. 11 places in 3 laps! If Miller thought he would have it easy today with the Italian starting 16th he was greatly mistaken.
10:07
UK Time
McPhee holds his qualifying position in 10th, just behind Miller. He has to fend off Bagnaia for the time being.
10:07
UK Time
So Marquez has a second advantage. Vazquez, Vinales, Rins, Fenati, Binder, Bastianini, Ajo and Miller follow.
10:06
UK Time
Maria Herrera is out, it looks like she clashes with Hafiq Azmi. Looking at the replays the young Spaniard looked to be at fault there.
10:05
UK Time
Marquez is making a break at the moment. Vazquez has made stunning progress and is up to 2nd, ahead of Rins!
10:04
UK Time
Surprise of the weekend - Antonelli goes down on the 1st lap! The Italian's miserable season continues.
10:04
UK Time
Fenati climbs to 10th while Miller has got up to 8th place.
10:02
UK Time
Marquez gets the jump at the lights go out and leads through turns 1 & 2. Bastianini follows from Binder, Rins and Ajo!
10:01
UK Time
Not all of the grid is dry here, the outside of the grid has damp patches which should make for an interesting start.
10:00
UK Time
The grid for the 22 lap race: Marquez, Bastianini, Rins - Binder, Ajo, Vinales - Oliveira, Vazquez, Miller - McPhee, Kornfeil, Antonelli - Guevara, Tonucci, Hanika.
09:58
UK Time
We have 2 wildcards competing this weekend. CEV runners Maria Herrera and Gabriel Rodrigo, both running factory equipment, start 24th and 34th. The next round of the Spanish championship takes place here next weekend.
09:56
UK Time
Danny Kent meanwhile will start from 19th.
09:56
UK Time
John McPhee was fastest in the damp morning warm up. He starts the race from 10th.
09:55
UK Time
It's worth noting that Miller hasn't qualified off the front row this year. Keep your eyes peeled for the #8 on the opening lap as he makes up ground.
09:54
UK Time
Brad Binder equalled his best GP qualifying result of 4th - Mahindra's best of 2014 - and Niklas Ajo did the same by placing 5th on the grid.
09:53
UK Time
I said broke 3 bones…I should have said fractured. Apologies.
09:53
UK Time
Rins takes his 4th successive front row start but a late crash in qualifying broke 3 bones in his left foot. He took part in morning warm up but will be riding injured in today's race.
09:52
UK Time
The Italian's previous best was 13th place in France and he was incredibly unlucky to get taken out of his home grand prix 2 weeks ago.
09:51
UK Time
The Estrella Galicia Hondas were split by the impressive Enea Bastianini in 2nd, by far and away his strongest qualifying performance of the year.
09:51
UK Time
It’s the younger Marquez’s first ever pole position in grand prix racing. Alex has only won once before (Motegi ’13) and will be looking to get his championship challenge back on track today.
09:51
UK Time
Meanwhile the Hondas of Alex Marquez and Alex Rins are on the front row in 1st and 3rd.
09:50
UK Time
And qualifying suggests it will be. Championship leader Jack Miller starts 9th while second placed Romano Fenati starts 16th. It's safe to say the opening laps will be slightly frantic.
09:49
UK Time
So in other words, expect another close one today.
09:47
UK Time
Incredibly after six races this year, the accumulated time between first and second place in all races is just 0.65 seconds: an average of just over 0.1secs per race.
09:46
UK Time
On to the record breaking Moto3 race then. After the closest ever finish in grand prix history at Mugello, where the top 3 were covered by 0.01 seconds at the line, the series arrives in Spain with the championship in the balance.
09:44
UK Time
We’ll keep you up to date with any weather developments throughout the day.
09:44
UK Time
Weather forecasters are adamant storms will return to the circuit later this afternoon so the chance of a wet MotoGP race remains.
09:43
UK Time
Overnight rain left the track wet this morning but the sun has returned to dry out most of it. Only damp patches remain.
09:43
UK Time
We have live coverage of all 3 races today. Moto3 gets us underway at 10am GMT, which is followed by Moto2 at 11.20 and MotoGP at 13.00.
09:41
UK Time
We’re in the stunning venue of Montmelo to bring you live coverage of round 7 of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship.
09:41
UK Time
Good morning and welcome to Crash.net’s live coverage of the MotoGP of Catalunya.
14:07
UK Time
Let's hope tomorrow's racing is as entertaining as today's qualifying. Join us again at 10.00GMT for coverage of all three grand prix races. See you then!
14:06
UK Time
Marquez: "I'm ok. It was my fault. When I passed the line I know it was the last lap. I know I brake too late but it was the last lap so I say, 'ok, we'll turn in and try.'"
14:03
UK Time
Other than Marquez you would imagine the 2 Tech 3 Yamaha riders are slightly disappointed with those results. Smith who was fastest in FP2 could only manage 8th while Pol Espargaro starts from the 4th row in 10th.
14:01
UK Time
That was Marquez's 1st mistake of the season. And it's the 1st time he has qualified outside the top 2 since the Czech Republic in August last year.
13:59
UK Time
Final results from Q2: Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Marquez, Bradl, Rossi, A.Espargaro, Dovizioso, Smith, Hernandez, P.Espargaro, Iannone and Bautista.
13:58
UK Time
Pedrosa said it's been a long time since his last pole. 1 year to be precise, at the same circuit too, 17 races ago.
13:58
UK Time
Here's Pedrosa: "First of all I'm really happy. I usually struggle a lot in qualifying but today I was fast from the 1st qualifying lap. It's been a long time since pole so I'm happy and looking forward to doing the race."
13:57
UK Time
Other rides worth noting are Aleix Espargaro in 6th and Yonny Hernandez in 9th. The Columbian has been impressive all weekend, out-qualifying his team mate by 2 places.
13:56
UK Time
Lorenzo in parc ferme: "I make a very good lap. Finally we made a good setting for this track. It's not easy to make this bike stable with this temperature. Dani will be stronger than most tracks, Marc will be there too."
13:54
UK Time
Lorenzo will start 2nd, his best lap was just 0.11s behind Pedrosa. Marquez starts from 3rd.
13:53
UK Time
So Pedrosa takes his 1st pole position of 2014, the first time anyone other than Marquez starts from the #1 spot since Motegi last October!
13:52
UK Time
Rossi improves late on to qualify 5th, Aleix Espargaro to 6th!
13:51
UK Time
That was a fast crash. Luckily he slid clear of his bike and is up and walking away.
13:51
UK Time
Marquez's pole record is over, he's crashed into T1 at the start of his flying lap! He was getting his Honda all crossed up on corner entry before losing the front as he pitched it in. He'll be 3rd at the highest.
13:49
UK Time
Lorenzo has 1 more lap, as does Marquez. Just a minute remaining.
13:49
UK Time
Dovizioso is fastest through the 1st sector, Lorenzo improves to go 2nd!
13:48
UK Time
Bradl pushes Lorenzo back to 4th and provisionally qualifies for the front row in 3rd.
13:48
UK Time
Pedrosa goes fastest with a 1min 40.9s lap! Marquez is coming back into pit lane to change bikes for one final run. He will cut it close though, there are just 2 and a half minutes to do this.
13:45
UK Time
Pedrosa is on a potential pole position lap half way round the lap.
13:45
UK Time
One of the big questions here is whether Bradl can challenge for the front row. The German is sitting 5th while Lorenzo leaves pit lane for his final run.
13:44
UK Time
6 minutes to go, Marquez has pitted and is back out on fresh rubber. Expect another fast time soon.
13:43
UK Time
Bautista gets a lift back to the pit lane. Luckily he's sitting up and looks to be ok.
13:43
UK Time
Rossi's struggling here. He sits 10th and his current lap isn't going to improve that, he's over 1 second off in the 3rd sector.
13:42
UK Time
Just before the Bautista crash Lorenzo set the 3rd best time with Bradley Smith a place behind in 4th.
13:41
UK Time
Bautista just sets the 9th best time then throws his Gresini Honda down the road on the exit of the uphill T7. That was a big high side and the Spaniard took quite a beating there. Let's hope he's ok as he gets stretchered away.
13:40
UK Time
Then - guess who - goes faster? Yep, Marquez goes to the top, Pedrosa now up to 2nd.
13:39
UK Time
Dovizioso sets the 1st flying lap of the session with a 1min 41.8s lap but is immediately bettered by Bradl.
13:35
UK Time
The 15 minute Q2 session gets underway.
13:35
UK Time
With Alex Marquez qualifying on pole position in Moto3 Marc now has the chance to put 2 brothers on pole at a grand prix meeting for the 1st time since Christian and Dominique Sarron qualified fastest in Le Mans, 1987 - 27 years ago.
13:31
UK Time
Incidentally Crutchlow's fastest time was 0.408s slower than Iannone's.
13:29
UK Time
Behind them grid positions are set from 13th onwards: Crutchlow, Redding, Pirro - Hayden, Edward, Abraham - Parkes, Aoyama, Laverty - Barbera, Di Meglio, Fabrizio.
13:28
UK Time
So Bautista and Iannone qualify for Q2 despite spots of rain falling when they set their best times.
13:27
UK Time
On a slippery track which doesn't suit the Ducati a fifth row start is far from ideal for the Coventry man.
13:26
UK Time
The chequered flag is out and Crutchlow can only manage to improve his personal best but not in position. He'll start tomorrow's race 13th.
13:25
UK Time
Crutchlow isn't on course to better Bautista or Iannone...
13:25
UK Time
Pirro is 4th, Edwards goes 7th.
13:25
UK Time
Redding puts in another strong lap to go 4th in the session. Nicky Hayden jumps up to fifth with a commendable effort considering his injuries.
13:24
UK Time
Iannone goes 2nd with a fine lap, just 0.007s slower than Bautista's best. Crutchlow has to improve by half a second if he wants to better the Italian.
13:22
UK Time
Bautista goes fastest by 0.5s with a 1min 42.1s. Iannone has 3 minutes to try and improve this, Crutchlow isn't taking any risks - he's going out for a final run.
13:21
UK Time
Bautista is 2 sectors into his 1st flying lap, he's on course for the fastest time...
13:20
UK Time
5 minutes to go. As it stands Crutchlow and Iannone will qualify for Q2. Redding, Pirro and Laverty are just behind in 3rd, 4th and 5th.
13:19
UK Time
Bautista finally emerges from the pits to start his first flying lap.
13:19
UK Time
Conditions can't have deteriorated too much as Crutchlow sets the fastest time while riders start to pit to change rubber.
13:18
UK Time
Iannone went fastest just before the flags came out with a 1min 42.8s.
13:17
UK Time
We are hearing there are spots of rain falling in pit lane! The white flag with a red cross is being shown, this could be disastrous for those riders that haven't set a time.
13:16
UK Time
Bautista has chosen to go out for just one run and conserve tyres in this session. The Spaniard is still get in his garage.
13:15
UK Time
Redding goes to the top of the pile for the time being, 10 riders have set times.
13:13
UK Time
All riders are now on track bar Bautista and Iannone. Michael Laverty is the first rider to start his flying lap.
13:11
UK Time
Riders are let out of pit lane, Q1 is underway.
13:06
UK Time
Based on recent qualifying form you'd have to say Bautista and Crutchow will do well to top Iannone in the 15-minute Q1. Only 2 of the 3 can qualify for Q2.
13:04
UK Time
The riders involved in Q1: Bautista, Crutchlow, Iannone, Hayden, Edwards, Pirro, Redding, Aoyama, Abraham, Barbera, Laverty, Parkes, Di Meglio and Fabrizio.
13:03
UK Time
So the top 10 from the 1st 3 FP sessions automatically qualify for Q2. The rest will be out on track for Q1 in just a few minutes.
13:01
UK Time
Stefan Bradl has been the surprise of the weekend so far. The German set the fastest time of the weekend in Saturday morning’s cooler conditions.
13:01
UK Time
Such is the heat several riders were lamenting the slippery surface after yesterday’s sessions, notably Valentino Rossi who wasn't happy with his Friday pace.
12:59
UK Time
Marc Marquez is gunning for his seventh consecutive pole of 2014. Can anyone give him a run for his money this afternoon?
12:59
UK Time
As was the case yesterday track temperatures are in the high 40s / low 50s, with outdoor temperatures a little cooler, in the high twenties. There are several dark clouds on the horizon though with rain forecast for later.
12:57
UK Time
We have MotoGP qualifying coming up in just under ten minutes. Q1 starts at 13.10, Q2 at 13.35.
12:56
UK Time
Good afternoon and welcome back to Crash.net’s live coverage of the MotoGP of Catalunya, the seventh round of the 2014 season.
14:05
UK Time
That's everything from us for today. Join us at the same time tomorrow for live coverage of MotoGP qualifying!
14:03
UK Time
Here are the qualifying results in full: http://www.crash.net/motogp/results/205561/1/catalunya-motogp-free-practice-2-results.html
13:58
UK Time
Redding was the 2nd Brit in 13th ahead of Crutchlow in 14th. Michael Laverty finished ahead of Parkes and Di Meglio in 21st.
13:57
UK Time
A run down of FP2: Smith from Bradl, Marquez, Lorenzo and Pol Espargaro. Then Rossi was followed by Dovizioso, Hernandez, Iannone and Pedrosa.
13:56
UK Time
You'd have to say today's conditions are far from ideal for making a comeback from injury. Nicky Hayden was 18th in that session, 1.9s slower than Smith's time.
13:53
UK Time
But Bradl loses over a second in the final sector meaning Smith tops FP2!
13:51
UK Time
Bradl is on course to take top spot from Smith. He's 0.5 faster through sectors 1 and 2. Crutchlow is on a personal best too.
13:51
UK Time
The chequered flag is out. Aleix Espargaro has a big slide through the final corner. He doesn't improve and stays 12th.
13:49
UK Time
Dovizioso improves to go 7th, ahead of the Ducatis of Hernandez and Iannone.
13:49
UK Time
…and Bradl improves to 2nd, just 0.002 slower than Smith's time.
13:48
UK Time
Bradl is on a potential fastest lap...
13:47
UK Time
Redding is enjoying a good run, sitting 13th - ahead of Crutchlow and leading production Honda.
13:46
UK Time
Lorenzo goes third while Hernandez jumps up to 7th with the aid of a factory Yamaha tow.
13:46
UK Time
…and Smith tops the session! His 1min 42.1s lap is 0.15 faster than Marquez.
13:45
UK Time
Smith is on a potential fastest lap with 3 sectors gone…
13:44
UK Time
Pol Espargaro improves again to go 3rd, ahead of Rossi who sets a personal best to remain 4th.
13:44
UK Time
Crutchlow was on a fast one but loses over half a second in the final sector. He still can't impact the top 10.
13:43
UK Time
A sideways Pol Espargaro jumps up to 5th.
13:41
UK Time
10 minutes of FP2 to go. There hasn't been a lot of movement of late but the top 10: Marquez, Bradl, Rossi, Lorenzo, Iannone, Pedrosa, Dovizioso, P.Espargaro, Bautista and Hernandez.
13:40
UK Time
A quick shout out to Yonny Hernandez. He's scored points in every race this year, was an impressive 9th this morning and sits 10th at the moment.
13:37
UK Time
Like his team-mate, Smith's Yamaha M1 is moving around a lot. He sets a personal best through sectors 1 and 2 but the lap goes away in the end. He remains 11th.
13:35
UK Time
The track temperature today is 56 degrees - the hottest of the year!
13:34
UK Time
We have a lull in proceedings with 15 minutes to go. Only Lorenzo and Dovizioso are on track from the 10 fastest riders.
13:32
UK Time
Crutchlow is looking frustrated. He's 12th and gesticulating with his hands.
13:31
UK Time
Of the top 10 in combined times from both FP1 & 2 only Marquez and Bradl have improved on their morning efforts.
13:28
UK Time
That time from Marquez was faster than his effort in this morning's FP1.
13:27
UK Time
Marquez is upping his game. He goes 3 tenths faster than Bradl to go top.
13:26
UK Time
Pol Espargaro has rarely had the 2 wheels of his Tech 3 Yamaha in line this session. He's pushing on too as he has a big front end moment into T4 but manages to save it.
13:24
UK Time
Smith has been pushed outside the top 10 to 11th. Crutchlow is languishing in 14th, Redding 16th and Laverty 21st.
13:23
UK Time
…and he improves again, a 1min 42.5s this time.
13:22
UK Time
And the German is on another fastest lap after 2 sectors...
13:22
UK Time
Bradl climbs from 12th to go to the top of the time sheets with a 1min 42.7s lap.
13:20
UK Time
15 minutes gone. The top 10 looks like this: Rossi, Lorenzo, Marquez, Pedrosa, Dovizioso, P.Espargaro, Iannone, Bautista, Smith and A.Espargaro.
13:19
UK Time
Ducati have shown promising signs so far. With Iannone's fast time this morning, Dovizioso sits 5th. Iannone is 2 places back in 7th.
13:18
UK Time
Dani Pedrosa rises to 4th, then improves again in time but not position. The Spaniard had his arm checked in Barcelona the day after Mugello having complained of more arm pump during the race. His recovery is reported to be on schedule.
13:16
UK Time
Pol Espargaro and Marquez are circulating together on track. They have history here. Remember their coming together in Moto2 in '12? Marquez is 3rd, Espargaro 6th.
13:14
UK Time
But first Lorenzo, then minutes later Rossi goes to the top. Times are still some way off their morning bests though.
13:12
UK Time
But that's short lived as Marquez goes to P1, Rossi improving to 2nd.
13:11
UK Time
The factory Yamahas go to the top of the pile with Lorenzo setting the early marker.
13:10
UK Time
Michele Pirro is wildcarding this weekend after his appearance at Mugello 2 weeks ago. Danilo Petrucci has yet to recover from the wrist injury that has kept him out of action since Jerez. Michel Fabrizio is replacing him in the Ioda garage.
13:08
UK Time
With track temperatures continuing to rise the fastest times in this session may come early. Let's keep our eyes peeled.
13:06
UK Time
FP2 is underway.
13:05
UK Time
Just as a reference Aleix Espargaro’s fastest time from this morning was a 1min 47.672secs.
13:04
UK Time
Some quick paddock gossip: MCN’s Matthew Birt reporting both Aleix Espargaro and Andrea Iannone have spoken with Suzuki with a view to riding for them in 2015. There is little doubt the returning factory will have 2 top class riders on their bikes next year.
13:03
UK Time
Should Hayden pull out of this weekend, Leon Camier is waiting in the wings to replace the American.
