Yeah, moto2 could be the exit door for Toni, or where he will be stuck for the rest of his career. I find it hard to believe he will land in motoGP again. MotoGP takes up new talents or recycles those already there. Toni has a tougher way than say, Terol. Toni has to both win the same, and do even better to have people take a chance on him. It is grossly unfair. He was the best of the rest of satellites in 09. He was still dumped with de Angelis, and now de Angelis is among the best and most consistent in moto2.
I don't think Toni will be back of the field in moto2. I hope he will get material allowing him to be near the front, or even back to where he has proven he belongs, in 2010. Then I hope he will get the chance to be a WSBK world champ.
