For all people saying his weight isn't an advantage and that his bike has a slower top speed (which is true, but remember he never really got a chance to slipstream!), if you have 2 riders, one light (Marquez) and one heavy (Redding), and they have the same engine and power output the lighter rider will be able to accelerate a hell of a lot quicker than the heavier one meaning that they will be able to hit the top speed of the bike long before the heavier rider does meaning that they will be going faster than the other rider for a longer period of time before the heavy rider manages to get to his top speed. You also have to factor in the tyres in how quickly you can put the power down, more weight equals more tyre wear.
