In the first year of moto2 Aprilia pulled out in a strop because of the Honda control engine. They had already designed an excellent aero package which ended up on Iannone's Speed Up bike.

That gave Iannone a top speed advantage which enabled him to break clear of the pack and win by a big margin in a few races.

IDK what is giving Marquez such an advantage this year but I doubt very much that Repsol are fielding a bike that breaks the rules.
