He got 6th. Good result. He finished where others did not, so credit to him. If we bash him for this then we need to bash the #1 rider when the same happens. So I will not go down that road. Congrats Smithy!!

Now my personal opinion is that he is a top ten rider not a top six rider. I say that because personally, I do not believe that he can consistently achieve 6th place but with time he may become a top six rider or better.

Likewise MArquez is a top 3 rider because he consistently finishes top 3 majority of the times (minus his 1 crash) but I would not call him a #1 rider because he does not consistently win (yet) or he does not win most of the times.

DP and JL are #1 riders they win most of the races most of the times but JL is the #1 of the 2 because he consistently wins the title over DP.
