German MotoGP podium finishers Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo have called for a change in the regulations to avoid a repeat of Sunday’s chaotic scenes at the end of pit lane.

Maybe, they should have a double grid on the track. If you change bikes before the start, you come out and do a second sighting lap, then take your position in original grid order, but on the grid behind the grid...


Unfortunately, the double-grid suggestion would penailise the riders who don't dash for the pitlane, because they would be held on the "proper" grid while the others entered pitlane, with pitlane speed limits, stopped and changed bikes, rode the rest of the pitlane at pitlane speed limits and then completed another "sighting" lap. During this time, the riders held on the "proper" grip would have their tyres losing heat, and their engines getting overheated.

I agree with Oli - no changing bikes on sighting lap.
