Randy De Puniet claims he needs more time to adjust to the LCR Honda after three days of testing in Malaysia left him feeling frustrated with his performance.
Entering his second season with Lucio Cecchinello's team this year, De Puniet was keen to rediscover some of the speed that saw him featuring in the upper echelons of the timesheets during testing at the Sepang circuit last year.
However, following the switch to Bridgestone tyres and the acquisition of Honda's latest satellite machine, De Puniet, who would end the test with the 13th quickest lap, admits he is still struggling to find his form.
“We improved the lap time but it's not enough for me: last year I was 4th here in the same test session. There's a lot of things to adjust but this first outing gathered us important data for next test session in Qatar.
“This morning we took a step forward and I knew I could improve more in the afternoon but we suffered some brake problems and we skipped the session for more than one hour. Today I feel more positive than yesterday but I need more time to adjust the bike.”
