Sunday MotoGP test times - Qatar.

MotoGP lap times from a quiet opening night at the Qatar test, held at Losail.

One hour after the circuit opened at 6pm, a rain shower brought proceedings to an abrupt halt. With no sun to dry the floodlit surface, wet patches remained on parts of the track until the end of the test at 12 midnight.

As a result, reigning world champion Valentino Rossi (like team-mate Jorge Lorenzo) completed only one lap, while Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Loris Capirossi never left the pits.

Nevertheless, Sunday marked the return of Kawasaki, running Marco Melandri in its new 'unofficial' format under the name of 'Hayate Racing Team'. Guinea Ecuatorial Team's Sete Gibernau is absent due to a shoulder injury.

Testing continues on Monday night with the opening round of the 2009 MotoGP World Championship also at Qatar, on the evening of April 12.

before anyone jumps to conclusions, it would be better explained when you see how many laps people did... Hayden (31), Melandri (35), Kallio (29)... compared to Vermeulen (6), Toseland (7), Edwards (8)... etc etc Good for Hayden and the top guys on the timesheets for sticking it out though...

Lol - I was thinking that myself, ya think Rossi pushed the bike round the circuit? Was also wondering if Edwards is keen on a bit of humble pie? with Toseland 2 places ahead (on less laps?) - Roll on a fantastic season!
