The FIM has announced that the postponed Hungarian MotoGP round at the Balatonring circuit - which had been due to make its grand prix debut on September 20 (see separate story) - will not be replaced.

That means that the 2009 MotoGP World Championship will be reduced to a more 'credit-crunch friendly' 17 rounds, with a near one-month break between Misano and Estoril.

The FIM insists that 'the Hungarian Grand Prix will be rescheduled in the 2010 calendar'.
