After a slow start in Sepang and Qatar, James Toseland is confident he will prove competitive again during the final group test of the MotoGP pre-season at Jerez this weekend.

Toseland's confidence on the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha has been rocked by a high-speed accident in Malaysia, one that left him on the back foot for the remainder of that test in Sepang and again at Losail.

Nonetheless, Toseland insists he is overcoming the after-effects of the fall, making a breakthrough in performance during the final night of testing at Qatar to prove just over a second slower than team-mate Colin Edwards.

With that in mind, Toseland says he just needs more time on the Yamaha M1 to regain his rhythm and the Jerez test is an ideal opportunity to prepare for the start of the new season.

"It wasn't easy in our last test in Qatar but on the last night I felt like we were finding a good direction and I was certainly feeling a lot more comfortable on the bike.

"The crash in Sepang hit my confidence and it took me a while to find my rhythm, but I feel I can go much faster now. I just need time on the bike which will start in Jerez."

Check all the insecurities..
Like I said right back at the start.
Save yourselves the struggle and relax.
Toseland will not amount to anything.
Spies is the new dawn.
He is coming like day follows dawn.

It is karma I think and Colin is in his head so it will be very difficult from here.
