Rain in Spain for MotoGP test.

The final MotoGP pre-season test of 2009 got off to a wet start with rain descending on the Jerez circuit on Saturday morning (pictured).

Conditions had been much kinder for the three-day 125/250 test, which concluded on Friday, but the premier-class competitors - who only have two days of testing available - are now facing a further reduction in useful track time.

On Sunday at 2.05pm the permanent members of the MotoGP field present at the test will take part in a 45-minute timed session, during which the fastest rider will win a BMW sports car.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa is absent from the test due to recent knee and forearm surgery and has been replaced by new Honda test rider Kosuke Akiyoshi.

The 2009 MotoGP season opener takes place at Qatar on the evening of April 12.

Been watching the live timing at this morning (it's free y'know! - stioll 5 hours to go)... Boy, JT is working hard! Until a few minutes he was fastest... granted a lot haven't gone out, but after 24 laps he'd done a 1.42.953, Lorenzo after 24 laps had done a 1.54.732 Obviously things will change but you can't knock JT's work ethic...

Not good at Jerez, rain forecast all day today and tomorrow. So make the most of it lads and get in some good practise for the wet races (Donington?). As for Moto GP live timing Bear it might be free but it would help if they sent you the e.mail after you registered so you could log in. I'm still sitting here twiddling my thumbs 2 hours later waiting.
