James Toseland has expressed his thanks at the huge level of support he has enjoyed in recent weeks following a bruising build up to the 2009 MotoGP season.

Toseland has been facing an uphill battle ahead of the opening round of the season in Qatar after suffering a debilitating crash at Sepang in February, before hurting himself again with a fall at last weekend's Jerez test.

Nonetheless, although the spectacular high-side from his Monster Tech 3 Yamaha has left Toseland nursing a sprained ankle, he is in no doubt that he will be on the start line for the first round at Losail.

With that in mind, he took the opportunity to thank his supporters on his personal website, adding that he is working hard to repay their faith with a strong showing in 2009.

"There's no doubt that the recent testing programme has been tough and I'm still working hard to understand the limit of the new tyres," he admitted. "However, I have been extremely lucky to escape serious injury at both Sepang and Jerez.

"As we all know, the race is where results really count and I am completely focused on achieving success in my second year in MotoGP.

"I'm extremely lucky to have such a loyal fan base and I want to succeed for you as much as for myself. So, thank you for all of the support that I've received so far. I appreciate it and am working hard to prove myself at the top tier of motorcycling.

"The recent success of British contenders in F1 has been inspiring and I hope to be as strong an ambassador for England in MotoGP."
