125: Iannone fastest on Friday at Motegi.

Andrea Iannone set the fastest lap time during Friday free practice for the 125cc Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi.

The Italian, who took victory in the rain-shortened Losail season opener - for which half points were awarded - held off pre-season favourite and Qatar rival Julian Simon by 0.179sec with Stefan Bradl third and Esteve Rabat fourth.

Nicolas Terol made it an all-Aprilia top five, with Dominique Aegerter sixth for the Ajo Derbi team. Simon's Aspar Aprilia team-mate Bradley Smith was seventh fastest and the final rider within one second of Iannone.
