125: Smith claims Mugello pole.

Bradley Smith has taken his first pole position of the 2009 125cc season, and fourth of his career, with a record-breaking lap during Saturday's qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.

The Aspar Aprilia rider, who will start round five 5.5 points behind team-mate Julian Simon, lapped 0.297sec ahead of fellow Briton Scott Redding (Blusens Aprilia). Redding snatched second from Le Mans winner Simon on his very last lap.

The front row will be completed by third Aspar rider Sergio Gadea with KTM's Marc Marquez qualifying at the head of row two. The top home rider on the grid will be double 2009 race winner Andrea Iannone, in sixth for Ongetta Aprilia.

Chris obviously is not a regular follower of 125. The main reason for Scotts finishes is perhaps he has grown too much, I can see this when trying to tuck behind the fairing. Keep watching Chris you may learn something!!!
