New parts for Pramac riders.

Pramac Ducati riders Mika Kallio and Niccolo Canepa will have the opportunity to run the carbon fibre swingarm on their Desmosedicis, plus other technical developments, during this weekend's Grand Prix of Catalunya.

The factory Ducati team introduced the carbon fibre swingarm at the penultimate winter test, in Qatar, although championship leader Casey Stoner switched back to the standard aluminium version last weekend at Mugello.

The Australian explained that both versions have certain benefits, making one or the other more suitable depending on the racetrack.

Pramac riders Kallio and Canepa will get the chance to form their own opinion of the swingarm this weekend, although they may decide to wait until Monday's post-race test.

"In Barcelona we will have at our disposal, in addition to the carbon fibre swingarm, more technical developments already tested at Mugello,” revealed Pramac Racing technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini.

“On Friday, together with our riders, we will decide if it will be worth using them, as the priority in a race weekend is to look for the fastest lap time and with the short [track] time at our disposal it will not be easy to test everything. We will have instead more time on the Monday during the test.

“We will also have some electronic updates after the suggestions given to us by our riders: this should give us important riding benefits. It should allow them to find the right feeling with the bike from the first laps,” he added.

Rookies Kallio and Canepa are presently 14th and 16th in the world championship standings, with a best race finish of eighth and ninth respectively.

Despite their championship positions, Kallio is still the next best Ducati rider after Stoner, while Canepa is ahead of the injured Sete Gibernau and Scot Honda rookie Yuki Takahashi.

It is not known if Gibernau, due to make his return from a broken collarbone, will also have the updates this weekend.

What a stupid comment BigG. So is it only Ducati that dont give all riders the same equipment? I would be very suprised if the Tech 3 got all the same goodies as Lorenzo and Rossi, same deal for the Honda riders. It's called a factory team for a reason. Factory teams put the money and it's best riders at the forefront and customer bikes get the hand me downs. Yet it's another post about Ducati and the Stoner bashing starts again. Maybe it's time I start on the anti Rossi road again and pick every little thing about Rossi to pieces.

"BigG" You're spot on mate, check out the photo with the 'duel compound tire' article. He's got the A.D.C (Auto Drift Control) and the A.L.C. (Auto Lean Control) fully cranked up, crickey, just wait till the other Ducati riders get these 'goodies'
