Scot Honda wants two rider team

Scot Honda has denied that Gabor Talmacsi's surprise arrival at the team from this weekend's Grand Prix of Catalunya is to be at the expense of fellow rookie Yuki Takashi.

Former 125cc world champion Talmacsi, who split with the Aspar-run Balatonring 250cc team after just three rounds, is making his MotoGP debut at Barcelona alongside Takahashi, using the team's spare machine.

This would cause a major problem in a flag-to-flag race, of which there have been two already this year, and it was thought that the well-funded Hungarian would have both bikes to himself at forthcoming rounds.

However, speaking on Saturday at Catalunya, team manager Cirano Mularoni stated that the team's intention was for both Takahashi and Talmacsi to stay and they are now seeking to secure a new spare bike for each rider.

Takahashi is the only Japanese rider on the MotoGP grid.

I think Talmacsi will surprise a few people once he's got the hang of the bike. It's the right decision to keep them both if resource allow. Gonna be tough getting another two bikes for them but they're needed.

How happy did gabor look yesterday in the garage before the race. Told BBC when ask how is it going from 250 to motogp bike "at first the bike is like a monster but now its my friend" with the biggest smile I have ever seen on a riders face. The boy is loving it. Hope he can pick up the pace and the test today wont have done him any harm.
