Takahashi injuries hand in race crash.

Yuki Takahashi was ruled out of Monday's post-race test at Catalunya after breaking his little finger in a first lap crash during Sunday's grand prix.

The Japanese rookie, who had responded to Gabor Talmacsi's surprise arrival alongside him at Scot Honda by finishing inside the top ten twice during the four track sessions prior to the race, claimed he had to take evasive action to avoid Chris Vermeulen's Suzuki.

“I had a good start. I overtook de Angelis and Vermeulen was in front of me,” he said, “My bike was good, and the feeling was excellent. So I said to myself, 'Let's go.' He braked sooner than expected and to avoid him, I went wide. I broke my little finger against his bike.”

The incident marked Takahashi's second first lap exit, having hit the back of Nicky Hayden at Motegi.

Despite rumours that Catalunya would be his last MotoGP race, following Talmacsi's arrival, Team Scot stated that it intends to run both Takahashi and Talmacsi for the rest of the season and is trying to secure the necessary extra bikes.

Talmacsi, who began the season in the 250cc class, finished 17th and last on his surprise MotoGP debut.
