Kallio out to make amends.

Mika Kallio isn't a rider to let emotions get the better of him easily, but the Finnish MotoGP rookie admits he was 'really mad' after front tyre problems left him 14th last weekend in Germany.

“After only five laps I felt something wasn't working properly in the front part of the bike: the tyre suddenly deteriorated,” he said last Sunday. “I could have easily finished in sixth or seventh position.”

Four days on and the Pramac Ducati rider, who had qualified tenth on the grid for his comeback from a nasty finger injury at Assen, remains disappointed - but hopes to make amends in this weekend's British Grand Prix.

"If I can be honest I was really mad after the German race,” he said on Thursday. “I was ready, motivated and even if I had a lot of pain at the left hand I knew I could have done a good race. We cannot accuse anybody because we know how the racing world is: everyone can make mistakes.

“For the British Grand Prix we will have to maintain the same level of concentration of the past weekend: with my technical staff we have worked very well and I am convinced that we can do the same in Donington,” he added. “We know our true value and we will do everything possible to show it on track.”

Kallio is still trying to beat the eighth place finishes he achieved in the first two rounds of the season.

Team-mate Niccolo Canepa, having survived a spectacular take-out by Nicky Hayden in qualifying, finished twelfth in Germany. The Italian grand prix rookie is facing many new circuits this year, but won the Superstock 1000cc race at Donington Park in 2007.

"The German race can be considered the starting point of my season. I didn't know the track and even if I was in a lot of pain after Saturday's accident I have done a good performance,” he said. “I have ridden in the past at Donington and I also won: for sure now it's not possible, but I will do everything I can to conquer a good result. Climatic condition in England are unpredictable, but in Germany we demonstrated that we can be competitive on any track conditions."
