Vote for MotoGP rule changes

When the 2009 MotoGP World Championship 'restarts' after the summer break at Brno on August 14-16, a major new rule change will come into effect.

For the final seven rounds of the season, each rider will be restricted to five engine changes, with any additional changes punishable by a ten point penalty.

The start of the 2010 season will then see a further fundamental rule change with the decision to ban rookies from riding for a factory team (except Suzuki, which has no satellite team).

The engine rule has been brought in to try and reduce running and maintenance costs, while the rookie amendment is designed to specifically help the satellite teams.

The financial crisis has reduced the MotoGP field to just 17 full time riders, only eight of which ride for factory teams (Fiat Yamaha, Ducati Marlboro, Repsol Honda and Rizla Suzuki). A non-factory rider hasn't won a MotoGP race since the last year of 990cc racing, in 2006.

However, five different riders have won a race from the ten rounds held so far this year, and six races have been won by less than 1.5sec, so are such rule changes needed at all?

The accidental success of Dorna,for what is a mediocre management, has lead Carmelo to think they are more qualified than they really are. 500GP to 990cc to save costs. Result: Costs go up 300%. Fuel rule drives up cost as electronics play a more important part. 800GP.To reduces speed/costs.Speeds are,as predicted back up in 2 seasons and corner speeds greater than ever.Costs almost double. Single tire rule.Rediculed by Carmelo as GP is not being a promo cup,but prototype racing. Now more Socialist style gimmicks with "rookie rule" and engine limit rule (which drives up costs on the short run). Countries and companies go to ruin when political meddling overshawdows professionalism.

DO we really want GP turning into the fiasco that has been F1 over the past few years with all their ridiculous rule changes?? I think some stability in the rules will save more money and allow the smaller teams with smaller budgets time to catch up with the big boys. In the meantime with all this trying to slow down MotoGp to be "safer" the production based series is getting ever faster and is in very close on lap times, with the 600's not that far behind either. It would be a very sad day to see the prototype motorbikes lapping slower than a production bike, kinda defeats the purpose of the series.
