Elias thinks nationality went against him.

Toni Elias, facing his third team change in as many seasons, believes that Honda Gresini wanted two Italians for 2010.

It has already been announced that Spaniard Elias, like San Marinese team-mate Alex de Angelis, will be replaced by Marco Simoncelli and Marco Melandri next season.

“I understood the situation. First of all, was Simoncelli because it was important for San Carlo. Then Melandri with Gresini [because] San Carlo wants 100 percent Italian team, and I understand this. It's not a problem... life is like this,” claimed Toni.

Elias took his first podium of the season, and first by Gresini since Melandri in 2007, with third place last time out at Brno, but is facing an uncertain future.

“If I have a good option, I'll stay in MotoGP. If not, I will adapt and no problem. I believe in myself. I think I am a good rider,” stated the 2006 Estoril winner.

Elias, who has been increasingly critical at the lack of support from Honda - despite having a 'factory' spec RCV - once again illustrated how few developments he has had.

“I only ride satellite bikes,” replied Toni, when asked how difficult it is to change manufacturers over the winter. “So it's difficult to answer this question. I think it's not a problem if you have good support.

“When you ask for some parts and in a few days it's comes, you know? Not like always when I ask for something, they always say no! [Laughter] That's my problem always,” he smiled.

That he got into MotoGP in the first place had nothing to do with his nationality itself, but with the racing school he enjoyed in that country and the guy who brought him up (You might now him, last name is Puig. Also tought Stoner). If he hadn't got any talent, he wouldn't have gone up that far. And he did not complain about his nationality one bit. He simply stated that Gresini wanted an all Italian team for the sponsors and that he understands that. Where exactly do you read any complaining about being Spanish in this? If anything, he's even got a point. Did Toseland ever challenge for a podium so far? And why does he still have a shot for next year? Because of his passport...

Toni: Best Ducati rider after Stoner since Capi left - If Kallio or Nicky pulled two podiums this year, they d be gods. Toni did and lost his ride. beat Rossi on a satellite bike. Got podiums almost every year on sats. That's s the facts.
