James Toseland has set his sights on scaling the MotoGP World Championship standings following a run of six top ten finishes that have put him to within striking distance of seventh overall.
With just three races of the season remaining, before Toseland returns to the World Superbike Championship, the Briton is looking to keep up his run of points finishes at Phillip Island, scene of one of his standout races in 2008.
Battling with Valentino Rossi before settling for sixth position, Tech 3 Yamaha rider Toseland is targeting a repeat performance having moved to within 12 points of Loris Capirossi.
“Now I've got three races left in MotoGP and I'm only 12 points off seventh and there's a good possibility of a strong finish even in a tough season like this,” Toseland, who is currently 13th in the standings, said. ”If I can achieve that then I can walk out of MotoGP with my head held high.”
