Canepa leaves hospital.

"I feel much better but only on Monday will I understand if I'll be able to ride in Malaysia" - Niccolo Canepa.
Niccolo Canepa, who burnt his right elbow in a 200km/h crash during Friday practice at Phillip Island, left hospital on Saturday after a successful skin graft operation.

The Italian rookie will have his injury examined again on Monday to determine if he will be able to ride in next weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

If not, it is expected that Aleix Espargaro, who has already been signed to replace Canepa for 2010, will return to the Pramac team after previously replacing Mika Kallio.

"The surgery went well,” said Canepa. “I spent a night in the hospital but tomorrow I will be at the circuit to support my team-mate Mika Kallio.

“Now I feel much better but only on Monday, when I will be back at the hospital to get checked up, will I understand if I'll be able to ride in Malaysia.

“Of course I'll do all that's possible to be fit to ride but with this type of injuries we have to be careful. I want to thank the doctors that took care of me."

Kallio will start Sunday's Australian Grand Prix from ninth on the grid.
