Rossi's stepfather dies in Italy.

The stepfather of reigning six time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi is reported to have committed suicide.

According to the ANSA news agency, 52-year-old Mauro Tecchi - second husband of Rossi's mother Stefania Palma - killed himself with a shotgun wound to the chest at Pesaro in Italy. His body was found on Friday.

"I feel terrible, I do not know what to say," commented Rossi.

Rossi will start Sunday's Australian Grand Prix from second on the grid.

This is terrible news for Valentiono and his family. Even though he is a professional, I can not imagine the inner strength he'll need to compete this weekend. Very best wishes for Vale, his family and for a safe race to all at PI this weekend.

Sad news for Vale.....Our condolences to you and your family from me and my family, may he rest in peace ! Just goes to show what a great racer he is to ride under these circumstances and still push to the limit.
