POLL: How will Ben Spies do on his Yamaha debut?

While most of the MotoGP riders will be winding down as they prepare for the 2009 season finale in Valencia, one rider will instead be using it as the starting point for his burgeoning career.

Ben Spies makes his debut with Yamaha around the Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo this weekend in preparation for his full-time assault with the satellite Tech 3 Yamaha team in 2010.

Fresh from winning the 2009 World Superbike Championship in his rookie season, Spies goes up against the likes of Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner for only the fourth time in his career having dipped his toe into MotoGP waters with Suzuki last year.

Much is expected of the American in 2010, but given this is his first outing on the Yamaha M1, how well will he fare this weekend before he embarks on a winter of testing.

He'll approach the weekend as a total professional - no brash predictions. He'll make steady improvement thoughout the weekend. He'll surprise most with his pole effort. He'll finish top 7. (I think 1 or 2 aliens might crash out going for broke) Toseland crashes out over riding the M1 trying to hold on to what's left of his pride....
