Valentino Rossi was once again the big winner on Italy's major motorcycle racing awards night in Bologna, walking off with two major accolades after his title-winning 2009 MotoGP campaign.

The 30-year old Yamaha rider not only scooped the 'Top Rider' award, voted for by readers of Motosprint magazine, but also landed the prestigious Casco d'Oro for his seventh top flight bike racing title. Winning the top award saw Rossi return to the head of the queue after being beaten to it by WSBK champion Troy Bayliss in 2008.

The Italian's nomination meant that he was recognised ahead of first-time WSBK champion Ben Spies - who will join Rossi in MotoGP next season - and MX1 motocross king Antonio Cairoli.

Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Simoncelli and Mattia Pasini all also picked up awards on the night, while Cairoli was rewarded for his world title success on the loose.
