Successful surgery for Espargaro

Aleix Espargaro undergoes surgery to have the compartment syndrome in his arm corrected
Aleix Espargaro has undergone a successful operation to his left arm as he begins the preparations for his first full season in MotoGP.

The Spaniard went under the knife to correct the compartment syndrome he was suffering in his arm just four months after having a similar operation on his right forearm.

Despite this, the surgery was completed under local anaesthetic and Espargaro is expected to resume full training within the next few weeks.

Espargaro became the youngest ever debutant in MotoGP when he deputised for Mika Kallio at Pramac Ducati during the 2009 Indianapolis Grand Prix. Three further appearances would convince the team to sign the 20-year-old for a full season in 2010.

Compartment syndrome? I had that after breaking my tibia. Basically it's bleeding into the muscle compartment that can cause the muscle to die. The surgical procedure has the doctor slicing the compartment open to vent the blood. It also causes some disfigurement when the muscle expands out of the compartment. It really sucks trying to fit one of my calfs into dirt bike or sportbike riding boots.
