Jorge Lorenzo's preparations for the 2010 MotoGP season have been dealt another blow after it emerged that in addition to missing the test in Sepang next week, he could also be forced to sit out the one in Qatar too.

The Fiat Yamaha man injured his hand last week during motocross training near Barcelona. He was subsequently taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal and a displaced thumb.

Lorenzo was examined by doctor Augusto J. Casanovas on Tuesday and according to reports by official MotoGP website, while he is 'recovering well', his attendance at the final pre-season test from March 18-19, is doubtful.

"At the moment there are serious doubts as to whether Jorge will be fully recovered for the Qatar test," Lorenzo's press manager, Hector Martin confirmed to motogp.com.

"We must wait and see how his injury and rehabilitation go after he has his stitches removed, which will be next Friday or Monday."

Lorenzo finished runner-up to Rossi in the 2009 MotoGP standings.
