Valentino Rossi's team manager Davide Brivio admits even he is surprised by the reigning seven time MotoGP world champion's level of motivation heading into the 2010 season.
Rossi and Brivio have worked together ever since The Doctor sensationally quit Honda for Yamaha at the end of 2003, and have celebrated four world championship triumphs.
The Italian superstar will be starting his 15th season in grand prix racing in 2010, but any hopes his rivals may have had that Rossi would grow tired of developing yet another new bike have been comprehensively dashed.
Instead of easing off, Rossi has been fastest in all four days of pre-season testing to date, held in the punishing heat of Sepang in Malaysia, and looks as determined as ever.
“Valentino never stops surprising me,” said Brivio, speaking exclusively to Crash.net
. “It's so impressive how he is approaching this winter testing.
“He has done this type of testing for 15 years, but he is so strongly motivated and still has such a passion for riding. Just look at him wheelying the bike! So the surprises continue.”
31-year-old Rossi will be aiming for a perfect sweep of winter testing during the third and final 2010 pre-season test, to be held at Qatar on March 18-19.
