125: Interwetten signs Schrotter

Interwetten Honda will join Aspar in entering all three grand prix classes this season after signing young German Marcel Schrotter for the 125cc World Championship.

The 17-year-old made three wild-cards appearances - at Sachsenring, Brno and Valencia - last season, finishing twelfth, 13th and fifth respectively.

“To ride in the world championship was a great dream of mine and this came true. My goal for this season is to be in the top ten constantly and at least to always be in the points,” he said.

Schrotter will share a pit garage with Interwetten's Moto2 rider Thomas Luthi, while Hiroshi Aoyama will give the team its debut in the MotoGP class.

“To have Marcel in our team structure rounds off our appearance in the world championship, because now we have one rider in each of the grand prix classes,” said Daniel Epp, owner of Paddock Grand Prix Team Management and team manager of the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team.

“Marcel already showed his potential last year with some wild-card performances and we count on what he showed then. I am very pleased that we can make this project happen with the help of Interwetten and Honda and their support in all three classes and I am very excited to see the new team structure work.”
