Redding ‘happy’ with progress

Scott Redding, the only British rider in the new Moto2 grand prix class, finished the first ever official test session for the 600cc four-strokes in 28th place on the combined timesheets.

Riding a Sutter MMX chassis for the Marc VDS Racing Team, the 125GP race winner set a best lap time two-seconds slower than pace-setter Julian Simon.

"The weather was pretty changeable, and we've had a few issues with the bike over the three days, so we didn't get quite as much track time as we were hoping for here in Valencia. Having said that, I'm pretty happy with how far we've progressed,” said Redding.

“We think we've found the cause of the chatter that was a problem in Catalunya, but rain on the last day meant that we weren't able to confirm this. We should be able to confirm the set-up changes at Jerez, where I'm determined to try and close further on the guys at the top of the timesheet.

“We need to continue with improving the set-up, sure, but I also need to start opening the throttle and pushing for a fast lap time now. We've still got six days of testing before the start of the season but I need to start pushing from this point onwards, to make sure we're well and truly on the pace for the first race in Qatar,” he declared.

Team-mate Vincent Lonbois was 34th fastest out of the 37 riders. The Jerez test takes place from March 6-8.

@wosideg so you think these guys make up these problem to cover up their lack of talent.Don't you think the team would be able to see if they were just making excuses.Stop been such a typical moaning Brit and appreciate that these guys are out there doing something you will never have the talent to even dream about doing.Your comment is a good indication of how much you know.
