Hayden claims fifth on first night

Nicky Hayden made it a Ducati one-five in Qatar opening practice, after a late surge up the order.

“We took a little while getting going today,” said Hayden, whose best lap was almost 1.3sec behind team-mate Casey Stoner. “We had just a little bit of confusion around the tyre choice at the start.

“I just couldn't get a feeling for the bike for the first 20 minutes when we were on the softer tyre, but when we switched to a hard tyre things picked up straight away and I was able to improve the lap times.

“I went about as fast as I did at the test consistently so that's encouraging. This is a good start to the season even if we have plenty of room for improvement.”

I want to see Hayden finish 3rd on this race, instead of Rossi for a change. Because I want to hear Rossi whining about Ducati being technically advantage over Yamaha. Rossi moaning always on technical was funny as for him bike is more important than the rider...

It just shows that steady dedicated plugging away, not whingeing, getting on with the job pays dividends. Also, I am sure that the other Ducati riders are benefitting from Nickys input. Hope he does well this year.
