The Monday Jerez test was a busy day for Andrea Dovizioso, who had opted not to try the latest chassis and swingarm developments for his RCV during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend - and also, like team-mate Dani Pedrosa, got his first taste of a new engine specification.

While Pedrosa has been mainly struggling with the stability of the 2010 Honda, Dovizioso has been requesting more mid-range and acceleration performance.

Nevertheless, he too felt the benefits of the latest chassis developments on his way to fifth place on the timesheets, just 0.335sec behind fastest man Pedrosa.

"Our machine lacks a bit of stability so it's not easy to be consistent but I'm really happy with the new parts Honda has brought here," said the Italian, who was sixth in Sunday's race. "We tried the new chassis and swingarm which have improved the last part of the braking area and corner entry. The new specification engine has improved the acceleration slightly and we'll look at the data and decide if we'll use it in the upcoming races."
