MOTOGP » Capirossi confident of Suzuki improvements

The experienced Italian has a single finish of ninth from the two races so far this season.
Capirossi: We're in a good position to improve
Loris Capirossi believes Rizla Suzuki can look forward to better results in this year's MotoGP after claiming the bike is 'already better than it was at the start of the year'.

Capirossi and Suzuki have endured a tough start to the season, the Italian unable to capitalise on his fifth place grid position in Qatar to finish ninth before crashing out two laps into the Spanish Grand Prix.

With team-mate Alvaro Bautista managing just a single tenth place so far himself, the Suzuki riders are currently classified 14th and 16th after two races.

Despite this, Capirossi is in a positive mood, claiming the bike has come on well since the start of the year, while there is good scope for improvement.

“We have only had two races so far this year so it is hard to say where we are at the moment, although I have really only done one because I only managed just over two laps at Jerez!

“The day after the race in Jerez we had a test and it was really important for us as we were able to do lots of set-up testing on the bike and we improved a little bit.

“I am really interested in what we can do in the future, because the bike is already better than it was at the start of the year and I think we are in a good position to improve quite a bit more as the season goes on.”

Capirossi is the most experienced rider on the MotoGP grid with the Spanish Grand Prix signalling his 301st GP start.
