Moto2: Corsi hands JiR first podium
Simone Corsi, JiR and the Motobi chassis all took their first Moto2 podium courtesy of a third place finish by the Italian in Sunday's third round at Le Mans.

Having carefully nursed his tyres in the early stages, Corsi rose from eighth on the grid to fourth on lap seven, then finally got the better of countryman Andrea Iannone to claim his rostrum finish by two seconds.

“I'm extremely happy with this result,” said Simone, who had finished eighth and fifth in the first two rounds.

“We're doing a very good job, I have a good relationship with the team and I'm finding the right feeling with the bike while pushing hard and being fast. Each time I jump on the bike I learn that little bit more that lets me get faster and faster.

“The Championship is still a long way away: we need to collect points after points and this podium gives us a strong base for the future.”

The third place, just 2.8sec from race winner Toni Elias, means Corsi also takes third in the championship, 28 points from Elias and ten behind Shoya Tomizawa.
