Thomas Luthi came within 0.015sec of claiming his second Moto2 podium of the season at Mugello on Sunday.

The Interwetten Moriwaki rider was carrying a special charity livery during the Italian Grand Prix weekend, with the usual sponsor logos replaced in order to promote the EurAsia Heart Foundation.

The EurAsia Heart Foundation helps European doctors to carry out life-saving heart operations for children in Eurasia countries.

"We were so impressed with the concept of the EurAsia Heart Foundation that long term lasting help is absolutely effective. We would like to offer Prof. Dr. Paul Vogt, a platform in Mugello, to promote and to increase the awareness of the foundation", explained Michael Summer, the Interwetten Sponsoring Manager.

"Interwetten would like to contribute by giving up their advertising-space to motivate more people to support EurAsia Heart, so that more specialists can be active in terms of the foundation."

Luthi certainly did his part to raise awareness as he fought his way from ninth on the grid to the brink of the podium on race day.

"Unfortunately I could not make it onto the podium. It would have been possible, but my rear tyre was worn out so fast and started to slide around that I had to be careful," said the Swiss. "This was a big fight, but it all was fair. We are up there and can ride in front with the leading group. I will attack again in Silverstone."
