Marc Marquez denied Bradley Smith a home pole position, by snatching the top spot from the British star on his very final lap of 125cc qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Marquez, who took his first ever grand prix win last time out at Mugello, secured his third pole in five 2010 attempts by 0.299sec for Red Bull Ajo Derbi, while second for Smith was his best qualifying performance of the season.

Double 2010 race winner Pol Espargaro will start third for Tuenti Derbi, with Smith's Aspar Aprilia team-mate and title leader Nicolas Terol completing the front row.

Danny Webb made it two Brits in the top eight, while all the wild-cards except Andrew Reid have made it into the race.
