Moto2: First double pole by Iannone at Assen
Andrea Iannone, who dominated the Italian Moto2 Grand Prix from pole, will be looking to do likewise in Saturday's Dutch TT after becoming the first rider to ever claim two pole positions in the 600cc class.

The Fimmco Speedup rider finished a crash-strewn session 0.215sec ahead of Ratthapark Wilairot - the Thai rider claiming a shock second place on his very last lap of the session with his Bimota chassis.

Alex Debon qualified third on the grid, but will not start the race after fracturing his collarbone.

The Ajo FTR rider ran wide at highspeed while passing slower riders, then clipped the back of Wilairot before being dumped onto the ground. The Spaniard nonetheless remained fastest until Iannone took over with 18 minutes to go.

Second in the championship Shoya Tomizawa qualified fourth for Technomag Suter, with Interwetten Moriwaki's Thomas Luthi fifth and title leader Toni Elias sixth for Gresini Moriwaki.

Silverstone winner Jules Cluzel will start tenth for Forward Racing.

The session was briefly red-flagged with 23 minutes to go in order to recover Gabor Talmacsi's bike, the Hungarian - team-mate to Iannone - having lowsided at the new Ruskenhoek turn.

Axel Pons required medical treatment after falling at the hairpin in the closing stages.

What a pair of hypocrites Toby and Julian are. They were very critical of the rider that caused Debon to crash, but when they realised it was Wilairot - who had just qualified second - they started to place some of the blame onto Debon. Bafoons the pair of them.

It's not really that shock result from Wilairot considering he's shown speed on less competitive 250 Honda for past years and quite impressive progress on that Bimota with almost nil testing time before the Moto 2 season start. Hope he can go all the way to Moto GP in few years time.
