Moto2 Championship leader Toni Elias made it a Spanish clean sweep of free practice sessions as he took control around his local Circuit de Catalunya.
The Gresini rider marched to the top of the timesheets in the final stages of the session, despite airing his dissatisfaction at Simone Corsi for holding him up around the final corner.
Nonetheless, he remained over a tenth faster than Sergio Gadea to join Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo in keeping the partisan crowd happy on practice day.
Behind Gadea, Elias's closest title challenger Shoya Tomizawa was third best, while Thomas Luthi shrugged off his collarbone injury to post the fourth fastest time, the Swiss having held sway at the top for around 30 minutes of the session.
The in-form Andrea Iannone was fifth best on the Speed-Up, despite an earlier off, the Italian just ahead of Hungarian team-mate Gabor Talmacsi.
Yonny Hernandez was seventh fastest, ahead of Julian Simon and Silverstone winner Jules Cluzel, while Scott Redding sneaked into the top ten on his final lap having run as high as sixth earlier in the session.
