Marc Marquez is on target to claim his fourth 125cc grand prix victory in succession after claiming his third pole in a row, in front of his home Spanish fans, at Catalunya.

The Ajo Red Bull Derbi rider survived a scare in the final ten minutes, when he had to save a fast front-end slide with his knee, but showed no lack of confidence as he subsequently pulled 0.652sec clear of the field.

Title leader Nico Terol reduced Marquez's advantage slightly as the last lap began, but Terol was pushed back to fourth as Aspar Aprilia team-mate Bradley Smith, and then Tuenti Derbi star Pol Espargaro bettered his time.

Espargaro finished the session 0.266sec behind Marquez and will be desperate to repeat his Jerez victory, at a track just five kilometres from his home.
