Having criticised former team-mate Loris Capirossi for getting in his way on Friday, Casey Stoner was furious at slower riders 'constantly' trying to tuck in behind him during qualifying at Catalunya

After claiming second on the grid behind title leader Jorge Lorenzo, the Ducati star said:

"As I went out to do my qualifying lap - and it's been happening all weekend - there's riders just constantly waiting for a tow. It's like being back in the 125cc class. It's getting a little ridiculous now.

"People need to grow up, be a big boy and do things themselves.

"There's nothing wrong with getting a tow every now and then, but every lap there are people waiting for you. They don't just stay out of your way and then cut in behind you; they make sure they stuff you up on the lap you're going quick on as well.

"Things are difficult out there and I wasn't able to do the best lap I thought I could do, but in general we're definitely happy with a place on the front row."

Team-mate Nicky Hayden will start from eleventh place after suffering in the roasting heat.

"We have made a few steps forward this morning in the cooler conditions but in the afternoon we really struggled," he said. "We're having the same problems as yesterday - to get the grip we need we have to load the rear too much and vice versa.

"We tried some little changes with the spring and a few other things without finding a good balance and at the moment it's going to be a demanding race. Starting from the fourth row doesn't help - we have a lot of work to do but hopefully we can find something in the warm-up."
