de Angelis set for Interwetten ride

This picture looks to prove that Alex de Angelis will make his return to the MotoGP class, in place of the injured Hiroshi Aoyama, from the next round at Sachsenring in Germany.

Aoyama fractured a vertebra at the British MotoGP and faces a two month recovery.

The reigning 250cc world champion has been temporarily replaced by Honda test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi, but team manager Daniel Epp has made clear he is seeking a rider with more MotoGP race experience to take over until Aoyama is fit.

The picture shows Epp and de Angelis shaking on a deal at Catalunya on Saturday.

de Angelis raced in MotoGP for two seasons with Honda Gresini. Despite taking a second place finish at the 2009 Indianapolis round on his way to eighth in the championship, the Sammarinese joined team-mate Toni Elias in stepping down to the new Moto2 class for 2010.

But whilst Elias leads the title chase for Gresini Moriwaki, de Angelis has struggled with accidents and injuries on the underfunded Team Scot entry.

Well at least Mr.de Angerous will try and race the damn thing instead of using the races as some kind of extended testing session (are you listening Yamaha ?).Hopefully he can be a little bit less of a missile than he has been in the past.
