Ducati riders give thumbs up to Motorland Aragon

7 July 2010

Motorland Aragon kicked off its preparations for the forthcoming Aragon Grand Prix in September by welcoming a trio of Ducati riders to sample the circuit.

With the track set to host its first MotoGP event on September 19th, factory Ducati rider Nicky Hayden and Pramac pair Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargaro got a chance to sample it for the first time during a private session.

Riding a Ducati 1198S street bike in line with testing regulations, the trio completed several laps to get a better understanding of the layout and acquire data before travelling back to Spain in two months time.

“There are many riding lines you can take and this will make it an interesting circuit to race on in September,” Kallio said.

“There are a few tight corners which we will have to think about, but after this ride I am happy. There will be plenty to consider because there are some points where the track rises and then falls away, so this will obviously be something that we have to plan for.”

“Now I can give some tips to the team so we can have an idea about preparation for the set-up of the bike, and this is definitely a track I am looking forward to racing on.”

Motorland Aragon was called up to the calendar earlier this year after it was decided the proposed Hungarian Grand Prix would not be able to take place at the still-to-be-built Balatonring.
