125: Marquez takes Sachsenring pole

Marc Marquez, winner of the last four 125cc races, smashed the Sachsenring lap record on his way to a sixth pole of the season in Germany on Saturday.

The Ajo red Bull Derbi rider, who took the title lead by one point from Pol Espargaro last time out in Catalunya, dominated much of the session - until Espargaro popped onto pole with five minutes to go.

But any hope that the Tuenti Derbi rider had found the pace to match Marquez was soon dashed when Marquez pulled a massive 0.543sec clear with two minutes remaining.

Third placed Bradley Smith was a whopping 1.325sec behind pole.

Smith's Aspar Aprilia team-mate and former title leader Nico Terol has withdrawn from the event due to back injuries sustained last time out in Catalunya.

Qualifying - Germany:

1. Marquez (Derbi) 1m 26.053s
2. Espargaro (Derbi) +0.543s
3. Smith (Aprilia) +1.325s
4. Cortese (Derbi) +1.334s
5. Krummenacher (Aprilia) +1.427s
6. Vazquez (Derbi) +1.594s
7. Koyama (Aprilia) +1.771s
8. Zarco (Aprilia) +2.016s
9. Rabat (Aprilia) +2.022s
10. Webb (Aprilia) +2.271s

BEYOND AMAZING! that's all I can say for Marquez. Great ride by Pol. I'm really hoping to see him putting a challenge on Marquez on the race. There's no fun in a perfect win!!
