American Honda has announced that Roger Lee Hayden will run the #34 on his Moriwaki Moto2 bike, during his wild-card entry in the Indianapolis Grand Prix at the end of August.
The #34 is inseparably linked with Hayden's Moto2 team manager Kevin Schwantz, the 1993 500cc world champion, who used the number throughout his career.
Schwantz took 25 grand prix wins, making him the second most successful American behind Eddie Lawson.
As a sign of respect, the FIM retired Schwantz's racing number from the premier-class, but it can still be used in 125 and Moto2.
Meanwhile, Hayden - younger brother of 2006 world champion Nicky - will race with the #95 during his 2010 MotoGP debut, as a replacement rider for the LCR Honda team, at Laguna Seca this weekend.
