PICS: Kallio falls at Laguna Seca

Mika Kallio fell in each of the track sessions at Laguna Seca on Saturday, most notably at the end of qualifying, when the Pramac Ducati rider suffered this fall (see below for full sequence).

Kallio missed his braking point on the approach to the Corkscrew turn and was thrown off his Ducati as he bounced downhill through the gravel, before coming to rest in the airfence.

The Finn, who has never ridden at the US Grand Prix before, after missing last year's event due to injury, will start 15th on the grid.

"This morning I missed half of the second free practice because I fell. This afternoon I clocked my best lap time during the last full lap on the track that I made. I was further improving my time but I was too fast at the corkscrew and I found myself in the airfence," he said.

Team-mate Aleix Espargaro will start from 13th.

I'd like to see him on another bike. He showed form last year, maybe the Ducati just doesn't suit him at all this year. This year has been about as bad as Melandri's year on a Ducati. If Kallio gets demoted to Moto2 next year he will be a good catch for any team.
