Randy de Puniet has received final medical approval to ride in this weekend's Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno, less than one month after breaking his leg at the Sachsenring.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has helped with my recovery," said the LCR Honda rider. "It's a surprise to be here this weekend, but a nice surprise. I started physiotherapy just three days after the operation on my leg and the recovery has been good."

Earlier this week, de Puniet was back on a bike at the Al?s circuit in France, where he completed 30 laps aboard a CBR1000RR Superbike.

"I tested a standard bike last week in France and everything was okay. I actually think this weekend will be easier than last year at Brno, where I rode in a lot of pain just after breaking my ankle," he said.

Last year de Puniet rode to tenth place at Brno having broken his ankle just three weeks before the race.

The Frenchman's aim is to finish this season as the top privateer. de Puniet is now eight points behind Ben Spies after a DNF at Sachsenring and non-strat at Laguna Seca.
