PIC: Spies tests new Yamaha

Ben Spies may not officially have been announced as taking over Valentino Rossi's place at the factory Yamaha team next season, but the present Tech 3 rider did get to try an early version of next year's YZR-M1 during Monday's test session at Brno.

See below for more pictures.

Title leader Jorge Lorenzo, whom Spies will surely ride alongside in 2011, also tried the all-black prototype bike. Rossi is only testing with this year's bike.

Testing concludes at Brno later today.

"Spies will not win any races at all next year because he will be on a brand new machinery and the learning curve starts all over again" Learning curve? He's not going from a Yamaha to a Honda or Ducati or Suzuki - he going to be riding another Yamaha. Another 800cc Yamaha. This isn't like going from WSBK to GPs either. And actually you got it all wrong and backward - it's going to be easier for him in the factory team. More engineers to crunch the data and to help make better decisions during the race weekend.
